Do they have to be NZ shows? I'd like to put in a plug for the advertisements during the L-Word on Prime - the show is shite (except it's always a pleasure (cough) to see Mia Kirshner & Karina Lombard on our screens), but the ads are really pushing the limits

I think Agenda could have been up for best current affairs, or at least best current affairs start-up, but they seem to have gone goo-goo over the past few months in my opinion (happy to hear others thoughts on this).

Agree on OF, our flat is glued of a Tuesday evening.

Lisa Owen has gotten better over time. Her interview with Christopher Hill was the most painful item of current affairs I've ever seen.

And Cameron Bennett not calling Mike Williams on so many things a few weeks back ... but other times really good.

Keeping the tape in for TV1's Maaori Documentaries that follow it as well. Some real gems so far.

I saw part of 'In a land of plenty' on Maori TV last night. Man, that is hard hitting stuff. Good to see MTV put up shows of importance to our society. That channel is what you call 'public broadcasting'. Now if the other public channels got on the same wavelength we might even get a public realm.

To offer some non-kiwi options:

My Name is Earl - flat out belly-laughs.

(British) Antiques Roadshow - pure human emotions (greed, surprise, humility, curiosity) and education.

I'm still waiting for a good kiwi comedy. Actually, I'm still waiting for a good kiwi comedy that doesn't require me to stay up too late (I have to get up early).

Interestingly I just read that 10pm is still considered primetime for adults in the States.

EML, Outrageous Fortune (love Robyn Malcolm), but also Pulp Sport and A Game of Two Halves. I think Marc Ellis deserves some kind of special Services to Muntering Award for this last year.
