So far no-one's labelled John Key a Zionist conspirator - and I hope no-one falls for the temptation to do so. Contrast that with the outrightly misogynistic drivel from the sewer rats directed at Helen Clark when she was in office, which was on par with anti-Obama Tea Partyism.

Helen Kelly appears to have a wider strategy of industrial 5th columnism - not necessarily a bad thing per se - to keep the Key Govt honest on industrial relations.
Up until the Hobbit War, it seemed to be working well - the proposed visit by the AFL-CIO's Richard Trumka was a case in point.

@Peter Cox & RB: so the whole thing looks a bit like Union vs Union to me. It's not without precedent - "yellow union" vs "red union" conflicts are older than radio. But somehow I don't see any yellow unions at play in the Hobbit war.

Interestingly, how would Matt McCarten have handled the Hobbit Wars? He seems more bolshie than Helen Kelly, but he still manages to be media savvy without having a media adviser. Maybe he practically is his own media adviser.

And sadly, those who want to necromance the ECA 1991 and set the zombie loose have been handed ammo on a plate by the whole Hobbit affair. And the cycle rinses and repeats.
I liken industrial relations in NZ to the Israel-Palestine situation - unstoppable force meets immovable object. Unlike other countries, where one side usually gets the upper hand - the companies in the USA & UK, the unions in mainland Europe.
