What I'm not looking forward to hearing in the next eight months is the passive aggressive resentment of rugby from some NZ soccer fans - and it's started already.
Quite. There was someone on the news on Sunday saying "Maybe now rugby can give up some of the limelight".
Ah, that's not actually the game's fault. Wouldn't it be nice if we could like two sports at the same time?

My copy of Wuthering Heights is in near mint condition. All those dreary people, and ghosties, living dreary brutish lives.
One of my friends used to go on and on about how romantic Wuthering Heights is, and how it's the greatest love story of all time, and OH! Heathcliff!
I read it and was all "um, Heathcliff's a stalker".
But then I love Jane Eyre, so what do I know?

Nah, becoming world champions doesn't cut any ice either - NZ were softball world champions 3 times in a row, and softball still gets almost no media coverage whatsoever.
Softball did used to occasionally be on TVNZ, didn't it? I vaguely remeber watching it, when the World Champs were here, I think?

And then there's the recent Glamour magazine "revolution" predicated on, er, getting your kit off ...
Sas has written eloquently about this.
Just to prove that you can't make everyone happy... know what phrase I'd like to see die in a ditch? "Real women have curves." No, actually, I think you'll find ALL women are real.
And wouldn't it be nice if we could get away from" here's what a normal person looks like".
Most of the people I know are 'normal'. And they all look different.

As I am a paragon of clean living and virtue
The noise I made on reading that cannot be spelt.
Ladies (and ballboys) I was promised debauchery, and debauchery I will have.

Jo and I have been in the same room before and no-one died, so that's bound to happen again.
But Jo, you, and I have not been. That's a crapload of cleavage for one evening.
-
Wait for it... I didn't like Spaced either
Yeah? Well I don't like moustaches, so take that!
You tell him Jo!
(Although, of Spaced/Shaun/Fuzz, Spaced is my least favourite.)

Though I think Shaun improves the more you are into zombie movies, as it pokes good fun at them.
Ah, except that I don't think I'd ever seen a Zombie movie before seeing it.
-
I hated Shaun of the Dead
You are dead to me, Green. Dead.
-
The only zombies I really enjoy any more are the drinks (and then only in moderation because… well… let's leave that story alone).
Must. Resist. Temptation.
I just started following Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright on Twitter. It has made me crave to watch Shaun of the Dead something wicked.
