  • Steve Barnes,

    Sorry Steven but

    60 ft OA
    80hp Ford diesel
    Gaff rigged yawl
    GPS,VHF, SSB & CB radio

From the site I linked to earlier.

But I can see why there is some confusion.

  • Steve Barnes,

BTW Steven, your website looks way like anarchistic post-modernism.
    Your own work?.

I very nearly microwaved mine today. By accident, I mean.
    Okay, carry on.

  • giovanni tiso,

Ended up on the same plate as some bread that needed defrosting, on account of the general chaos around here.

  • Islander,

*sigh* PAS - is there anything like it!

I would dearly love to get to a meet-up but it is unlikely (except Dunedinistas...)

Meantime I keep my pictures, fantasies or real ones, of all you fullas I esteem-

Sofie, should be there tomorrow: if not, I've sent the track number to your Woosh account-cheers all, kia ora tatou-

  • Sacha,

Why travel? If you hosted a meetup at your place, Islander, I'm sure there would be some takers..

  • Islander,

    Sacha - you're a genius!

OK - a general send-out: at a convenient time this coming year, I invite PAS members to Big O. There are beds available (one motel/3 crib/bach let-outs/4 fully-equipped cottages) and we can - weather permitting - garentee an umukai/hangi. We (Big O people) specialise in single malts and really good SI wines...and such excellent kaimoana! Fireworks & bonfires are our delight (molotov cocktails an additional extra.)The lagoon is magic...and we have hosted up to 450 people (mind you, that was for 1990 celebrations.) Lots to do for kids and active adults-

    Expressions of interest welcomed.

O, as an additional hook - there is a 10ft screen, projector unit, and the director's cut of LoR which could be ongoing in Donovan's Store-

  • Jackie Clark,

Wouldn't that be fantastic? I read a piece in a North and South, recently, about the Big O. It looks stunning, Islander. There would be nothing, I would imagine, that most of us would enjoy more than to travel there and meet new friends.

  • Islander,

steven crawford - you can goldpan in Zalas Creek (it's on the road leading in to Big O, but the gold-getting in the village is all blacksanding (if-when- you get here, check out the ring I always wear on my left middle finger - it comes from the north beach...))

Giovanni, Sacha, Stephen. Jackie -and all others entertained by the thought- it'll happen-

  • Danielle,

First the Pixies are playing the day after my due date, then Islander invites us all to the Big O. Fate, you're doing this on purpose, aren't you? (Or is that a tautology?)

    Or is that a tautology?

I'm sooo tempted to answer that question at epic length. But you'll still miss the Pixies. Consolation prize, a pixie of your very own. Fate may control your destiny, but (s)he'll never know what that feels like. Good luck.

Feel free! Just don't expect me to understand anything you say. I am a deeply shallow thinker.

But you'll still miss the Pixies.

Don't *say* shit like that, man! I am living in a crazy dreamworld where the kidlet is precisely two days late and I am able to utilise my already-purchased ticket for the nana seats. Do you know how long I have been waiting to see this band? Twenty years. TWENTY. YEARS.

  • giovanni tiso,

The majority of babies, especially first babies, are born after the due date, as a result of a complex evolutionary mechanism designed to enable their mothers to attend Pixie concerts.

(Of course in ancient times these used to be actual pixies.)

  • Russell Brown,

Our firstborn attended the following shows in the womb (although not nearly as far along as yours will be):

    - Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds
    - Sonic Youth
    - Shabba Ranks + Shinehead

All at the Brixton Academy. The first two were brilliant -- two bands at the top of their game.

And the last was completely friggin' mental. A mini-riot broke down the front doors of the theatre while the police looked on (wisely, btw), the place was a couple of thousand over capacity, and we emerged to discover that someone had been shot in the foyer after we'd gone in.

But our group (with two pregnant women) pushed through and found seats upstairs, and the show was chaotically exciting. David Rodigan came on stage to talk to the crowd and declared "I'm not here to criticise you! I'm here to praise you!"

    Most mental gig evar.

Not quite the same but Travis, our firstborn, did rummage around mightily indoors when he was taken to a screening of Aliens. I don't think it scarred him as he turned out to be a philosopher.

Danielle actually giving birth at the Pixies could trump that.

The mildly douchey shoving drunken dudes at the Bressa Creeting Cake show on Friday seem pathetic in comparison! (I moved well out of their paths anyway.)

Black Francis has had so many kids he could probably deliver little homey himself.

Same, except I think it's 19 years for me. If they were anywhere else I'd have my ticket. The price of flights to Auckland has currently defeated my credit card however.
