Supporting Public Address

Thanks for your interest in becoming a supporter of Public Address. For many years, voluntary subscriptions and contributions have been an important source of revenue that keeps us going strong. Our readers help us achieve some cool stuff, and we want to expand on that.

This is your invite to join us on an exciting new project. We’ve recently begun using PressPatron, a Kiwi crowdfunding platform for supporting blogs and journalism websites. It’ll also give publishers like me a much better connection with supporters like you.

Our PressPatron campaign is focused on helping us fund our ongoing expenses, so that we can keep doing what we do best. We’re also hoping to generate funding for some deeper journalism projects, and help cover the costs of redesigning our website.

If you’d like to become a supporter, simply click the button below. You’ll have the option of making a one-time or monthly contribution to Public Address.

Campaign update: 1 March 2017

Since launching with PressPatron, we’ve raised $736 from 44 generous supporters. We have 80% of our supporters sustaining us with a recurring contribution, averaging $9.90 per month.

Some background about PressPatron

Public Address is the very first publisher to use PressPatron, and we’d love to have you join us on this journey. Please be gentle: this is the very first stage of PressPatron’s public launch, so you may experience some bugs when using the platform. It works best within the Google Chrome desktop browser.

We appreciate your patience while PressPatron’s development team improves the design and functionality of their service. The founder is Alex Clark, and he’d love to hear your feedback. You can contact Alex by email here, or send him a tweet via the @kiwialexnz Twitter handle.

Once you have become a supporter, you will have the option of creating a PressPatron account to manage your payment preferences. Here’s a quick link for accessing your PressPatron account.

Payments and online security

Payments made via PressPatron are securely processed using an SSL connection with 256-bit AES encryption. The underlying payment infrastructure is provided by Stripe, a leader in online payments who provides credit card processing for companies such as Facebook, Twitter, Xero, Kickstarter, Shopify and others.

All credit card data is encrypted and Stripe maintains strict administrative, technical, and physical procedures to protect your data. More info about Stripe’s security policies can be viewed here. PressPatron does not collect or store your credit card number within their own database.
