R. Yeah well I should because them cults sure know a good old devil when they see one. I could do a guest spot, scare the kids, demonstrate some lovin' spanking, generally boo it up a bit and maybe a throwawaya exorcism or too, speak in tongues, but even thhough I bet their PA and lighting rig are rad (they always are), I'm just not feeling it you know.

it would be a sacrifice that's true. but i think the management would soon get a taste for it - imagine the potential for them to increase revenue. pretty soon you wouldn't be able to get away from them, they'd be pestering you do do apprearances all over the place, particularly in the faltering diosces.

no, a shortish one...I have a school prize giving to go to, and it was a long time ago. It was on a label owned by the three of us which I ran. Short lived...we did two albums, Princess and 8 Arms to Hold Us comp, but we had a bigger hit with Princess in NZ than PWL did anywhere else. Des'ree Hislop (that was her) was not too bright though and was managed by her brother who was less so...they fired PWL and decided they could do it alone. History is the judge....

Jerry Wise (original FMR boss, very much RIP) gave me Mandy Smith and her mother to entertain at some long past RIANZ awards....if I can put it that way. I sat with her for several hours as she pushed her food around the plate and looked vacuously towards a wall. Our conversation was limited. Her mother was pleasant but I don't think I was her type although we talked a bit.

I was just trying to make the point that Tamaki does not deserve to be called a Bishop. Titles are important, because they indicate a level of societal respect, and people like Brian Tamaki, myself and Idi Amin are just taking the piss, by illegitimately glorifying themselves. Maybe his flock voted him up to Bishopness. It doesn't matter; they just do whatever he tells them to anyway.
Thanks to Riddley for supporting my fledgling megalomania (knew I could count on you), but I think I'll give up the whole bogus religious leader thing. Not worth the hassle, mate. Bloody tall poppy syndrome.

I was never into the late '80s/early '90s dance club thing, but with records like that, those early to mid-80s school discoes were really a scene, man. I seem to remember that the images on the sleeve looked like they were ripped straight off the VHS. Is that the case? -

Tamaki can call himself Lord High Poo-Bah and Super Peitty Princess of the Universe for all I care. I don't recognise his spiritual atuhority, but I could say exactly the same thing about the Archbishop Whakahuihui Vercoe, Mufti Sheikh Taj al-Din al-Hilali, the Daili Lama etc. I also don't expect any non-Catholic to show anything other than basic civility to any member of the Catholic Curia, foreign or domestic.
I'd also note that if you really want to be petantic about 'legitimate' titles, shouldn't we be referring to the Prime Minister as Mrs Peter Davies - even though she prefers to style herself with her maiden name, and the honorific Miss, 'deservedly' used by unmarried, adult women? :)

When you plan to get married, you get a licence. On that licence, both partners indicate what name they will be known by after marriage. There is no legal requirement to change names, and no overriding presumption in law that this is what happens. Even more, it has only ever been a matter of social custom that a married woman was known as Mrs Husband's-Given-Name Husband's-Family-Name.
As for using this to attack Helen Clark - perhaps some basic civility would be in order, and you could address her by her legal name, not some name that you think she ought to have.

Reminds me of a story I heard - Clare de Lore, on the eve of her marriage to Don McKinnon was asked whether she would hence be known as Mrs Don McKinnon.
Her reply was along the lines of "Isn't one Don McKinnon enough?"
