  • giovanni tiso, in reply to Kyle Matthews,

There are a couple of significant neo-cons who were involved with both the Reagan administration, who also had some involvement with Bush Snr and Jnr, who were in the depths of the New Left some 20 years before. Their names escape me, but you wouldn’t have called them Marxists

The only guy I can think of (and it would be drawing a pretty long bow) is Abrams. But between being a socialist and being a neo-con, he was also a strategist for the Democratic party, and there are a lot more of those who switched allegiance. Yet you keep hearing that “it’s the hardliners who are more prone to sharp political turncoating”, never by way of argument, mind, but always stated as a self-evident truth, I guess because it is so comforting to liberals.

  • Kyle Matthews,

I think it's often talked about because it's such a significant change to move so far along the spectrum, rather than anything else being significant about it (numbers etc).

I can't remember the names of the people that did "switch", if I can remember where I saw their story I'll post it.

I was thinking last night about what would be the kind of things your readers would buy and mostly drew a blank.

    Coffee, of course!

Anything to do with computing would probably work too.

  • Kumara Republic,

A comment by 'eddie' in this 3 News article basically threatened to do a Breivik on young Labour supporters, which has since been moderated into oblivion (thank Google cache for the original):

Haahaaa, Clarke, I would shoot alot at a labour youth rally, but take you out first! lol, your tooo easy clarke, too easy, now get back to that job search, I hear they are looking for a cleaner at PnS near you, I think you may be under qualified though, but reach for the start clarke, reach for the stars!

Is 'eddie' risking criminal charges, or is he just shouting 'fire' in a cinema?
