The Google algorithm seems to be working perfectly.
The more the original story is critcised, the more it is linked to, the higher it is ranked
(probably weighted greater when linked by the Washington Post).
Google users shouldn't interpret the first result as being the most truthful (usually they're ads).
It would be like saying Shortie or Coro St is the best TV drama because it rates highest. -
Technically, there is no reason why the herald can't have two different interfaces for people who want serious news, and people who don't. (A proper "news" tab). Of course there is all the news feeds which go up automatically but it would be fairly easy to filter those... by source for a start

Thank you for some interesting TV last night.
Go Bus has a lower tax rate because the Tainui recipients are mainly low-income earners, yet they pay lower wages to their drivers than their competion... ? NZ Buses, who lost the South Auckland contract to Go Bus, pays their drivers above $20, I heard Go Bus pays somewhere in the $18 range. No wonder Go Bus can undercut their rivals. It's a mad rush to the bottom?

When I was at Merge Cafe last week there was a poster outside about making key-lockable lockers available for homeless people to store possessions. It sounds like a very practical idea after reading your story Six.

Can I just say that comparing Bob Jones to a turd is very unkind to the turd. I can fertilise the garden with a turd and grow something lifegiving and useful. How about comparing him to a dose of the clap.
