  • Up Front: Fringe of Darkness,

I was a frequent visitor to CP as a boy as many of my parents friends were course attendees and/or residents. As a young teenager you are so impressionable and vulnerable, especially when it comes to sex and I keep some memories from those times that still disturb me today. I recently caught up with a friend who was a young victim, we had a lot of of discussion about that time and one of the thoughts we had was that we had witnessed, first hand the sordid, collapse of the hippy dream. We decided that it had been a defining factor in why we embraced the punk movement with such vigor, a cleansing,a release, an antithesis .

  • Hard News: Friday Music: A Life of Stories,

I remember that Shabba and co gig at the Academy, quite an experience, and still one of my most memorable live music experiences. And I was rather relieved also that you like the Miley Cyrus record,( your opinion does matters to me). more than a few people have been taken aback at my declaration of approval . Although the video for the single is pretty stupid, there is some great music on the album and listening to it has steered me back to some Flaming lips listening, which can't be a bad thing :-) Oh, and the Viv Albertine book is fantastic !!

  • Speaker: Abortion: morality and health,

The stick that rattles my dags about this issue, as it does with rape and and abuse of women is the incessant braying of the male defense and admonishment of responsibility . Men are responsible for impregnating women. If we as a society genuinely respected women and there equal rights and roll in society, then women would become mothers when then they chose to. The fact that we barely hold absent and irresponsible fathers to account but vilify women for not wanting to become "a burden on the tax payer" or struggling to look after there children, is scandalous.

  • Hard News: Some reprehensible bullshit,

Anyone who has renovated their own home will know what a $10,000 bathroom looks like, and it don’t look like much.

If you are building a new bathroom in a converted space, with waterproof membranes, redirected plumbing, electrical, tiles, bog, basin etc, and finished to a high standard ( it is a mayoral office )I can tell you now, that 10k is a good price.
