David! So good to hear from you and see young Bob (the Builder) in action, though Mark is frowning worriedly here at the news of your eyesight, as am I. As others have said already, best to get onto it pronto. My father left a semi-detached retina too long and lost the sight in one eye as a result. He was in his sixties at the time, mind. Not to alarm you. I'm sure you're onto it by now anyway.
We've been away in America (first time), so apologies for my belated comment. I realise you've no time to reply or even read all comments - especially ones so late they're into the following year! - but I just wanted to say hi, and HNY too. Oh and great post. I think, as Russell suggests, it might be an idea for you to do as VG did and keep your art/writing weapon of choice with you at all times. If the pen be mightier than the sword, how mighty must the pen and nail gun together be? Something to think about. Power to your nail gun, I say. And belated congratulations to Russell and the Public Address team on ten years. That's a lot of ink - and (for some) a lot of nails. Well done.
On a related matter, if anyone would be interested in reading a short essay or two from me on our recent travels in America, I'd be happy to oblige. -

Love Bondi beach. The classic cove, the cluster of Mediterranean-style houses on the point; the breathtaking expanse when you arrive and look down and out.
My grand-mother was said to have ridden her horse through the surf at Bondi when she was a young woman. Side-saddle of course, this was early last century. She would be 125 if she was alive today.
She is buried up there on the cliff top looking out across the valley of surf, though she lived most of her life (50 years) in London.
But I ramble...

We're having a break from yoghurt just now. I think we spoilt ourselves on a serious Greek style yoghurt for months when it was on special, then it went up to the price it deserved, beyond our budget, and we found the cheaper comparisons hopelessly inadequate.
The yoghurt conundrum.We are lucky/unlucky enough to have a Mad Butcher at our corner shops. New World and MB. MB does good cheap mince as a leader product but the other meats can often be more expensive.
Fish night tonight then off to see our daughter perform in Westside Story at the Bruce Mason Centre. She had to peroxide her hair, apparently the hair never fully recovers.

Thank you Joe, I will try that forthwith.
As to the present, baby photo..., I now think there may be something oddly intimate and inappropriate about a baby photo. Nothing to do with you of course, just a personal peculiarity. Plus it took me a long time to grow into my head; I should celebrate the fact at every opportunity.

I must be off to make our own dinner, tinned soup and noodles.
I am impressed with people cooking market food. Our local markets are only open on Sunday morning, and they are the length of a long beach away.
The only steady thing I can tell you about what I eat is: veg (Mon); fish (Tue); mince (Wed), chicken (Thur) and pizza (Fri).
Finally, if anyone can tell me how to change my profile photo (I've grown a bit since this shot) I would be most grateful.

I am returning to PA chiefly for the opportunity to 'speak' more regularly with you without taking up too much more of your time. I have been hearing (from Mark) about your extraordinary journey out of the red zone into the black, and now that I see for myself I am even more amazed. Personally, I can't imagine surviving seeing my house cut in half and trucked down the street - nearly tipped into the drink at the final hour!
