cheers man, to be frank we're probably the least likely standard bearers for NZ funk etc, but we're giving it a fair lash. really looking forward to meeting to Totals' lads and ready to road test for tracks for Vol 2.
We've been spun out by the reception. we knew we were going to surprise some people, but so stoked by the uptake for the vibe we were aiming for.
feeling a lot of feels and gassed for tomorrow night.

yep, they're Aussies, but given that Back On the Streets comp saw fit to include Dalvanius (backed by Collision) we figured it was fair to include a group with a Nu Zild singer.
Finally filed the liners too, so all is go.

also, just cos, that's Redeye backing Mark Williams. Damn fine band they were too.
I really dig this off that album too:

cheers for that Russell - funniest bit of the exercise is that it's Baker and me who did it; we're hardly disco/ funk heads. But we had a vibe in mind and while I don't expect people will dig everything we've thrown at it, we wanted to highlight the range of the 'scene/ not scene' while maintaining a distinct Nu Zild flavour.
Saying that though, I've found a couple that I had question marks over to be growers. So stick with 'em. Otherwise, by jingo, I've learned a lot.
With a bit of luck though, it'll shake enough tracks out of people's garages and trees for Vol 2. We know there are a lot of tracks recorded for radio promos that could be up for plunder and there's at least one more Mark Williams' (and what a lovely man he is) I'd run with.
Been an interesting week really, launched my first book and a about to crank out a comp. When (and if) the liners get completed (just at proofing stage) they'll almost constitute a second book - all going to plan it'll be an 18-page insert.
So cheers to the Herald for giving me the arse I guess. Who knew? -
also stink to hear of Grant Hart's death...

I've got some of those soundalike LPs - argh but, can't remember how they're titled. I have might have time for a rummage this arvo.

argh, Bill Direen, and I’m on bleeding kids duty.
listening-wise; with great difficulty. I’ve got a t/t into the kitchen which helps – I made the call to go vinyl-only a few years back (to force myself to to play them rather than any hipster cred – otherwise after bedtimes and then it’s on headphones.
listening gets way more intensive if there’s a gig in the offing, but that’s a different thing to recreation.
