‘a stake in your country’
If any campaign by either major party starts referring to me as a New Zealand 'stakeholder' I will not be held responsible for my actions.

Also, something else fabulous from Chicago:
I will give anyone here one thousand dollars if they can find me that hat.

Hard News: It Began ... in Chicago, in reply to
Bits and bobs:
She's cool, all right.
Well. She's emphatically not "cool", but she was really *good*. A beautiful interpreter of others' songs. Until about 1980something, anyway (duetting with Bryan Adams is where it all goes wrong). Give It Up is one of my favourite albums, ever. And her version of John Prine's 'Angel From Montgomery', oh... so heartbreakingly sad.
Chris Difford is often suggested by Facebook as a 'person I may know', because we have FB friends in common. But as it turns out, he is actually a person *Steve* knows! Heh. Excellent.
Shannon's 'Let the Music Play'
Oh gosh, I just remembered that I love that. I must acquire it!

What a voice, what a voice. Yowza.

I have been pondering how best to commemorate Bobby's awesome Hard News shoutout. Should I start scrapbooking?

Speaker: TPPA: It's Extreme, in reply to
I believe "bloody Yanks" are defensive. Americans are delightfully logical and levelheaded. Particularly if they're also New Zealanders. #biteme

New Zealanders, of course, never use diminutive nicknames for anything.

However, Arie’s the victim. Given some of the comments in here, you’d think that certain comment-makers had been directly on the receiving end of the flying fists themselves.
I think people SHOULD be fucking enraged by this, actually. "Beating up suspects" isn't exactly the most defensible issue for a police apologist.

disabled by terminal frivolity
I think I've finally found what should be on my tombstone.

They put lettuce in them now? The innovation!
Not in the plain hamburger or cheeseburger. You have to go up the McD's food chain to, like, the Big Mac or something to get the luxury of lettuce. (Or go to Wendy's.)
(I think perhaps Gio was suffering from an a priori conception he has of a hamburger.)

Hard News: The digital switch-off, in reply to
I don’t know how to break this to you, but last night I watched Master Chef.
Quickly, all of you! He is fraternising with reality television! You must stone him for his ideological impurity!
