  • Hard News: Snowden and New Zealand, in reply to TracyMac,

I don’t have time to look,

Therein lies a big part of the problem.
In a word where technology was sold to us on the basis that it would make our lives “better” and that we would have more leisure time, we actually find the opposite happening, we have less time, we are working our fingers to the bone just to end up with nothing but bony fingers.
Perhaps the real answer here is to not play their game, start writing letters to each other again, have more social gatherings and spend less time chasing the almighty dollar, wake up, use your noses to smell the roses and less for chasing “supposes”
He proposes as he poses then mosies to where he dozes…

  • Hard News: Snowden and New Zealand, in reply to Paul Campbell,

will I get a GCSB minder to look over my shoulder all day in case I invent a system that the NSA can’t break into?

Yes but you will be told it is just a pre-sales rep seeing how they can "help" you.

  • Hard News: Snowden and New Zealand,

has it – or would it – waved through software or hardware it knows to contain such a backdoor?

From The Herald article which you quoted... Snowden docs: GCSB links to US spying programmes

    * they were briefed on the NSA's efforts to deliberately put backdoors into private companies' computer networks;

"Has it or would it?" well, the answer to that is "Hell yes" and Xion Qui would know that, even though he would "reject that accusation" or call it "More nonsense from the loony left" or some such twaddle as he is prone to do.
It seems all this bunch of power hungry greed heads just have to do is deny inconvenient facts and they go away.
The gullibility of the New Zealand public fills me with despair and anger, wake up sheeple.

  • Hard News: Weirder yet, in reply to Rich of Observationz,

Wasn’t there a big thing then with hugely rich people and their kids buying their way to poptastic success?

    Funny you should mention that

  • Hard News: Weirder yet, in reply to Russell Brown,

You don’t think the context makes any difference, I think it makes some difference.

Its all just black and white to some people. Am I allowed to use those words?.

  • Cracker: The Colorado Experiment,

    The Gilman study was rubbish.
Well, at least Ryan M. Smith, Research Assistant Professor
    The Ohio State University
, thought so. I believe its called peer review.

    And, From The Same Article

If you are considering smoking pot—or quitting—here is what you need to know. Smoking marijuana once is very unlikely to harm you. It takes at least 15 grams of cannabis to kill a person, and probably much more than that. A healthy person would have to smoke dozens of joints in a single session to risk death from overdose. People who do die from the acute effects of marijuana die in accidents: A recent study suggested that more than 10 percent of drivers killed in car accidents test positive for cannabis.*

    As for the lethal dose...
The LD50 for Cannabis is apparently a little more that 15 grams.
Some say that the ammount is closer to 1/3 of your body weight Well maybe if you were to drop it on me from a height of 10 feet or more.

  • Hard News: Inside the Shrine,

It appears that Milk is not the only thing Oravida gets across the boarders.
Seems they like our Swamp Kauri too.

Swamp kauri can be exported without Ministry of Forestry (MAF) approval if it is a finished or manufactured product; or a personal effect.

Whole or sawn salvaged swamp kauri stumps or roots can be exported with a MAF milling statement and export approval.

Swamp kauri logs may not be exported, either whole or sawn.

Its all above board though, honest, honest as a Justice Minister. We are sending them table tops…

Mr Miller said some of the products listed on the export forms, such as “table tops” and “temple poles”, could have been produced from swamp kauri logs so they would not have been included in the swamp kauri stump timber exports.

Any skulduggery would surely be picked up by Assure Quality Ltd an honest and well established company …

We have been working with Australasia’s food and agricultural industries for over 100 years –

which is like totally amazing since…

AsureQuality was created on 1 October 2007 by the merger between ASURE New Zealand Limited and AgriQuality Limited.

Doesn’t appear on the companies list website though…
I did a little research on the board members and discovered I was not the only person doing so.
    nudge nudge…

btw, the preview pane has a glitch Russ.

Did yo mean This One? dated 27 January.
They have known for 3 months and done nothing about it until now.
    How's that for public safety?'

  • Speaker: Facing the floods,

My Father in law went to Christchurch recently.
He returned ashen faced saying it was like a war zone, he knows what they are like.
He said he had no idea it was that bad. He is not alone.
He was so concerned as to lot leave his wife's ashes there with her family.
Our Governments action, or lack of it, is appalling.
