This entire debate is IMO stupid, and what's worse, it was triggered by philipmatthews quoting Andrew Paul Wood, and ignoring the real issue

which is that the proposed work is unquestionably precisely that ("unimaginative pseudo-Fascist tat" I mean) and utterly horrid.
I don't care who works at Weta and who thinks they're artists or not; the one that they made of the little girl reading is awful, and this rugby bollocks is a wretched disgrace*.
Surely we can agree on that?
*not least because, as has been noted by more than one other, it closely resembles a woman's genitals: a vulva, with labia, clitorus, introitus, some hair, and even the hint of an anus.

You know how in the (Stateside ones in particular) gossip mags, much of the more 'speculative' material that purports to be gossip is in fact nothing like that, but rather carefully-orchestrated and scripted publicity exercises by "celebrities" and their PR/agents/so-on designed to get the "talent's" name in the public mind as a publicity tie-in to a new movie, a book, an award show, whatever...
Anyone have any idea how much of the local stuff is like that?

but in general it's a heartless spew-fest, almost as depressing as the story the original post addresses.
Perhaps to my advantage, I've never seen such a horrifying feeding frenzy so I respond in a manner that is a little stronger than 'depressing'. What a bunch of sick fucks. I must not continue for I fear I will not be able to control my rage.
Any lawyers out there want to get onto that Farrar guy about the libel/slander on that thread? (statements along the line of "he's a murderer" when he was found guilty of manslaughter only.) Imagine if you could use it as leverage to shut that shameful cess-pit down.

those works need experienced, professional, trained experts? Just like graphic design actually.
Possibly nothing is quite as funny as a graphic designer or an information architect or whatever who feels professionally slighted by this sort of idiocy. ;)
