To be blunt, ... what the hell made Glenn think he was that special?
Five hundred MILLION dollars, that's what. Plus another 100k to help Winston, to help Labour.
In fact I sentence him to be locked in a ships hold with…. Michael Cullen I get the feeling they deserve each other. “He’s a bully” now that’s choice.
But Cullen is a bully (but he's got nothing on Mallard) ~ are you suggesting Glenn is a bully too? I don't think so. He's just a very rich man (a billionaire, not a millionaire) who has, through his enormous wealth, become used to getting what he wants. Owen Glenn is to the Labour Party what Mark Lyon was to the Headhunters. A man to be indulged while he's splashing the cash, but never really an 'insider'. But both were feted and allowed to think they were one of the gang, until things turned sour. Why Glenn thought Cullen's "Rich Prick" comment only applied to Key and not him I'll never know.
I think the only sane and decent response to Rod Emmerson's effort today is to quote John Waters: "One must remember that there is such a thing as good bad taste and bad bad taste."
I saw the cartoon this morning and my first thought was "Wow, that's really going to the edge". But I wasn't offended. But others will be. Is that enough to say it shouldn't be published?

Either one of the airport staff nicked it when it was lying around at Palmerston North, or you accidentally shipped it off somewhere random, where someone else, a member of staff or member of public, decided to walk off with it.
yes, that's it. exactly.
Lucky for you tho' you're in the media so someone will be assessing your complaint, delivered via PAS. The rest of us are never so lucky. That said, someone in their PR dept is also running a check on your 'standing' to see just how fast they need to pull finger on this one. If you were Paul Henry they'd be 'round to your house by now.
But yes, airline staff are a special breed. Their goal seems to be to get you to admit it's your fault really.

Let's not beat around the Bush. Americans are rallying to Palin because it suits them. It's better than admitting they won't vote for a Black candidate.

Just had confirmed from a second source indirectly that Mike Williams was on Owen Glenn’s boat - not months ago but only a few weeks ago. Williams has confirmed this it seems.
The story is he was visiting donors in London (imagine the fuss if National’s President flew overseas to solicit funds) and decided to pop on over to see Owen.
(if true) Was Williams on Owen's boat to 'visit donors' - or find out what Owen planned to tell the Privileges Committee? And/or 'finesse' him?

coupla things:
how do you 'deposit' a bombshell?
One News Win Peters Storyand from kiwiblog:
My God how desparate. Russell Fairbrother is suggesting he was acidentially talking to Wayne Peters who had borrowed Winstons cellphone and sounds like him!!
Cullen also pushing the notion that someone else answered Winston’s cellphone and pretended to be him.
If Wayne was using Winston's cellphone, that presupposes that Owen's cellphone had the number saved??

I thought this opinion on HuffPo was pretty good. Worth a read...
We're Gonna Frickin' Lose this Thing
... This race should be about whether the Republican Party is going to be dismantled or not after the borderline treason of the past eight years. But instead it is about making the word "community organizer" a dirty word and a beauty queen who shoots foxes from a plane. Someone is not in any way doing their job and it's the press...
Probably the worst offenders are the pundits who take the position that it's all just a game and say phrases like "getting a post-convention bump" or "playing to the soccer Moms." This isn't a game of Monopoly or Survivor. There are real truths that exist outside of the spin they are given and have an effect on lives.
The blog also talks about 'voter caging' which is fascinating. The Republicans are sending letters to registered voters in key precincts. The letters are marked 'do not forward' meaning if the person is not at the address (they are registered for) the letter gets returned to sender. The Republicans then take these returned letters to the Voter Board and have the voter's vote disallowed after the election, because they were not living at the address as stated on the Voter Registration.
Evil, but genius.

It's main function is to serve the privately owned super yachts, and to provide convenient access to the development project, on the tank farm land.
I'd forgotten that! Maybe Banksie should make the bridge a PPP and we could charge a toll! The yachts could pay each time they needed the bridge lifted, and the developers could pay everytime a dump truck passed over.
I'm serious.Actually if it was me I'd close one of the lanes, and split it half between pedestrian and cycleway. I'd imagine that'd cost a couple of million at most. But I'd imagine that idea going down like a lead balloon :)
Actually I like that idea, but only when the second crossing is in place. And as I note from this thread CYCLISTS WANT ACTION NOW!!
BTW - Half of that half million cost would be spent on Resource Consent -
I was engaged in my usual commuter stroll up Queen St yesterday with Hornblower when he deadpanned "oh look, we're in a Bravia ad". And sure enough, hundreds of purple sphere were rolling across the Queen/Victoria intersection.
Shall we blame Steve Crow?
Obviously Auckland city streets are fair game for advertisers now ... -
