you're not the first one to tell me that this morning :-) But at least my misery at another World Cup failure has been tempered by a cash return (in my book $8.25 was good odds for France by 12 and under)I felt I had to give some friends in Chch a call (we'd sat through AB defeats in every World Cup since 1995) just to see how they were bearing up.
It turns out they're not so good. One was out in the backyard burning his All Blacks jersey.

Actually Key was asked that question at the foreign policy launch last week. As I recall (and I'm paraphrasing here) his reply to questions about a scenario similar to Iraq, after saying several times he didn't want to debate hypotheticals, was along the lines of:
"it would be an issue we'd have to consider seriously, but, at the moment, I'd say sending NZ troops would be something we'd be unlikely to do"
Further to the point about his position on relations with the USA and Australia. He said he wanted to maintain and build on them (intimated some comments Clark had made in the past had been less than helpful), but he also said he supported a multilateralist approach and the UN.

For a win:
"Nothing's better than flogging the French except, maybe, a memorable malt" -

I'm given to understand that cad-ish and bounder-ish qualities are to be expected in those of the journalistic persuasion ;-)If it makes you feel any better there's a little post-script to the story that I'm sure you'll appreciate.
If there is a God I am now convinced he may very well be an All Blacks fan. For, you see, within a fortnight of my little collect the transmission in my car started making funny noises. These noises necessitated over a thousand dollars worth of repairs.
Vengeance shall be mine saith the Lord.

At the risk of sounding unpatriotic I actually have fond memories of "that" match in 1999.
After the dire season that was 1998 and the 5 consecutive losses I developed an approach that I call happiness insurance.
Put simply I started to bet against the All Blacks. the reasoning being that if they win I'm happy (but $20 poorer), and if they lose my remorse is mitigated by filthy, filthy lucre.
For the 1999 match against the French I had $10 on France to win by 12 points - the odds were 80 to 1.
There was one small complication though. At the time I was sharing a flat with a couple of very committed rugby fans. Two strapping lads who played for Sydenham.
At the conclusion of the match they were sitting in a stupefied and depressed silence then looked to see me with a huge grin on my face. Once the details of my perfidy emerged a solid kicking was duly administered.
But the money soothed the pain!
