But the question is whether, with the media environment around P, someone who admits to having had an "issue" with it can maintain credibility.
A matter of distance, surely.

If Obama had said he'd had a wee crack habit before deciding to run, I think we'd probably be looking at the first Female President of the USA.
It's not improbable that he didn't try it - I'm not trying to smear his character here, just to say that as a young slightly rebellious guy who admitted using both marijuana and cocaine it's certainly possible. But the difference between a single use and a habit seems pretty large to me.

UNDEFEATED!
Just wanted to say. Also, the Euro 2012 qualification starts in September.
And here's to a wonderful South African World Cup. I'll leave discussion of the other one to elsewhere...

Not if they draw, which seemed strange to me, as why is that deemed more likely than Netherlands winning?
Isn't a draw impossible? I thought that at the end of the final, if nobody has won they just stand there kicking balls at the goal until someone gets more - death by shootout.

I have a theory about why Party Central is such a mess. The National Government hasn't ever really partied. Not that hard-as, break of dawn, where's-my-shoe kind of partying.
In which case, they should just make it Fu Bar. You can fit vast numbers of people into that tiny space, and they all go mental. And not on orange juice.
To be honest, I suggest just closing off Courtenay Place and declaring it as such. You won't need to spend a cent.

Haden hates ostriches too? I'm pretty sure that's not against the law.
No, the nanny state outlawed that under the Electoral Finance Act, and it's also covered by the ETS (although grandfathered until 2049).

>WRITE THE FUTURE
You visualize a majestic glittering statue. You visualize a glamorous movie premiere of your life story. You visualize international world celebrity.
Spain has scored a goal.
>QUOTE FOR TRUTH.
You are in a dark thread.
But it's a lesser crime than constant cynical fouls on gifted players, of which there were plenty in the Brazil-Netherlands game.
>KICK OPPOSITION PLAYER FROM BEHIND
You get away with it.

From my time in Oz I got the impression that Australians are very easily scared politically. It was quite a weird feeling that they talk so tough, but are such sooks about some things.
Yeah, that's about true. It's partly a symptom of their electoral system, which sees them relatively more dependent on swing voters than NZ. Swinging voters are easily swung.
Incidentally, I was actually at the Liberal Party conference on the weekend (I work a second job in a hotel in Canberra), where I met David Farrar. Julie Bishop is a pretty scary prospect for an Australian deputy PM. She's particulalrly conservative and reactionary, as is her leader.

Yeah. There's a reason they study islands in population genetics.

Paul, my consolations to you. Faster, bigger, more dangerous vehicles should always give way to lesser ones (people, in this case), and the penalties and opprobium towards those who break that rule should be the same.
