that Chris Knox Labour ditty - sounds like he's singing "its a BITTER way with Labour..." he he he. What will National top that with?

If National comes up with anything with lyrics that asinine and condescending, there's going to be a few Nats campaign folk wishing that they had the Tuhoe Liberation Front on their doorsteps. You know something, it's not only protestors who need to get off their moral superiority trips, and treating people who don't think like them as something slightly less than human.

Gawd. Spare me from Left-wing infighting. Really

QFT, and I really loved "While I won't lay charges, I won't let Len absolve himself by accepting his apology." No, let Len 'absolve' himself by not only making sure he faces no legal accountability whatsoever, but give him a chance to tell anyone who will listen (and I'm pretty sure there's one or two jounos on the speed dial) what a vindictive, petty little arse-hat you are.

    Oy...

I walked into the conference having 'shame' and 'scab' yelled at me, and then went straight into a meeting where we discussed what mechanisms to implement to help improve the lot of low paid workers like myself and my workmates.

Yeah, I have some sympathy with that but I don't think my partner will - let's just say he's seen enough of the really nasty treatment some union folks hand out to non-union members in his industry that the phrase 'karmic debt' may come up before long. Not for the first time recently, it's really, really difficult to feel over much sympathy for either side.

We and/or a court might hear it and still think "paranoid police idiocy", but there will still be enough in it to embarrass the supporters of those arrested.

In the end, RB, when this is over the more hysterical souls on both sides who ought to be embarrassed won't be. Do you have to be born without any sense of shame, or is there a course?

They may well have alternative explanations, to what the prosecution offers.

And should be entitled to due process and the presumption of innocence as everyone else, even you think they're complete arse-hats and/or it's politically convenient to fudge the line between an allegation, a charge and a conviction?

He got upset because his partner didn't get a hearing, got into a stupid screaming match and then did something stupid and dangerous.

Fair enough. Richards should just be thankful he's not my partner, other wise he'd be in his very own am-dram production of the __Lysistrata__. :)

"Highly provocative" seems to be a bit of an understatement. Those guys were desperately looking for a fight.

Really, johnno? I know there are politicians of all stripes who regard any criticism whatsoever as outright treason, but I don't take them any more seriously than wannabe revolutionaries who've never been any close closer to their real deal than a CD of Les Miz. I have to wonder why, if these people were really "desperately looking for a fight", they're noting facing charges today.

If nothing else, you'd think someone who is constantly accused of treating the Police like her own personal gang would just STFU. I'm sure it's going down with the focus groups like a magnum of Krug at an AA meeting, but really....

Well, duh. What happened to Ovens quite obviously is what made Richards lose his temper. She was given a megaphone by an organiser but never got to speak because the dimwit tendency among the protesters wouldn't stop chanting "Lies! Lies! Lies!"

And SFW? Don't know why this needs repeating but OVENS WALKED AWAY - RICHARDS WENT AND MADE AN ALREADY HEATED SITUATION WORSE. Call me a pompous old stick but I think everyone has a 'reasonable expectation' of being able to open their mouths without being screeched down by a pack of screeching numbnuts, but I'll be pleased if Bronwyn Key and Mary English resist the urge to get KIll Bill on anyone's ass.

This morning's Herald story is illuminating.

I have to agree with you, especially this wee quote:

Helen Clark said yesterday morning on TV One's Agenda the crowd had been "highly provocative".

She had seen a reference to the crowd calling someone a "scab", though nothing excused a person taking a swing at someone.

    SHUT THE FUCK UP, HELEN!!!!

Yeah, but you would say that ;-)

Well, of course I would - it's the textbook conference speech every deputy leader has given since the year dot. And while it would be rather nice if Cullen had conceded the next election, and admitted they're all been utterly useless, I'm not going to hold my breath waiting. :)

Now, I'll just have to see if I've correctly predicted the pull quotes that are going to end up in the news.
