and one can never, ever, underestimate the power of prohibition, least of all taboo, on the ongoing formation of a human psyche, now can one?
You know, the prohibition on taking human life is really starting to get to me. If they don't change the law soon, I might snap and kill a couple of morons. I blame the faulty law that doesn't let me do what I want.

Not to mention the innumerous other drug busts carried out in New Zealand every year, many for operations considerably larger than Molenaar's, where the cultivators and sellers somehow manage to restrain themselves from just unloading on the police.
The position that the only reason an officer was killed is because of our harsh drug laws is frankly insulting to all concerned. Jan Molenaar did the killing, nothing else.

Megan: Actually, I find rugby suffers greatly in a televised format because you can't see what the rest of the players are doing. League is generally OK because all of the action happens on the ball, or on a one-off runner. In rugby, you miss out on seeing where the backline are placing themselves for a lineout or scrum, and miss attacking and defending patterns in general play a lot as well.
We always hear about how players are picked for their high work-rate, or the work they do off the ball, but it's nigh impossible to tell on television. Ergo; everyone thinks Rodney sucks.

Matt: It perhaps wouldn't be so poor if Uruguay wasn't going through pretty severe drought at the moment.
But that's the problem with primary production. I've never heard of a software/pharma company downgrading earnings forecasts because there wasn't enough rain in the quarter, or whatever.

Sacha: Are you thinking of New Zealand Farming Systems Uruguay? Definitely an interesting idea, and it will be good to see how it turns out - obviously there is room for application of the model all over the world, provided there is sufficient capital and experience available to make each venture work.

I'd be inclined to have them start at the back and work fowards - Fullback first, props last - although it could add a whole element of strategy to allow coaches to choose which player to pull first.
Of course, this is the first time I've ever seen a penalty shootout, so the odds of anyone actually bothering to develop strategy is slim-to-nil.

I used to have a manager like this. We all thought he was cultivating a "wacky" persona. Then we found that he was profoundly colourblind.
Anecdotally, I gather that Richard Prebble had the exact same problem - his wife used to pair his shirts and ties for him each day. Definitely a problem if she was ever away.

Naly: McCullum over Gilchrist? Come on mate... (Hey, he's active in the IPL...)
I'll agree with you on Kobe.
NRL: Any player? Jesus. Probably Greg Inglis, provided he agrees to lose that pre-season weight gain.
Rugby: Any player at all? Shit. I've probably got to go with someone like Matfield in the forwards, Masaga in the backs. Masaga has been injured for weeks but still tops the linebreaks/defenders beaten stats for NZ teams.
Football: Christiano Ronaldo
So many replies are cliche, but meh.

Naly: Maybe, but the man is 2m tall and around 115kg. You tell him that.

Would you believe that I got a scholarship mark in my bursary English exam?
It was a while ago.
