Getting back to taxing the super - if it weren't taxed it's recipients would get less, likely about the same as the net after tax people receive today.
For people just living off the super it would be a wash.
What taxing super does do is act as a little bit of a means test for those who have other incomes, it pushes people on super with other incomes into higher tax brackets.
BTW if you want to encourage people to save for their retirement you might reduce the tax on the first N$ of interest past age 65

Surely the difference in received benefits between Maori and Pakeha is best addressed long term by having more middle class Maori.
On the other hand the issue of people doing hard manual labour simply wearing out faster and not getting the same benefits as middle class people is better addressed not by means testing but by somehow tieing retirement age to individual expected life expectancy

Here's the ODT's article on the issue from late last year

I nominally have a gigabit connection at home, in practice I can get 600Mb/s to a test server here in Dunedin, about 300Mb/s to Wellington, under 100Mb/s offshore ....

Even though I don’t live in Chch I’ve been having mild flashbacks of living in Berkeley/Oakland in ’89 (Loma Preita earthquake) and ’91 (Oakland Hills fire) watching (and smelling) the hills burn, people’s lives, cookbooks etc falling as ash around us
We used to love walking in the Hills …. but you know, all the grass and trees grew back, those 1000 houses were rebuilt …. the hills you love will return

I've found a new way to think about the ongoing range war between Trump and the press over the nature of reality .... Every time you hear a question about whether something Trump has said is true substitute "is wearing no clothes"

You know what you get when you drain the swamp? – a pile of alligators

Hard News: More medical cannabis…, in reply to
I find the whole in-your-face televising of people going thru customs for private profit a real breach of privacy.
It's at a time when people are stressed - and we're all stressed and feeling vulnerable going thru customs, even when we're completely innocent - partly I guess because of those exact same intrusive TV programs.
I suggest everyone tell them to respect your privacy whenever you see them
