Yes he did, but that time has passed, and so has the best part of his career. Perhaps we need to shout something different:
Good luck with that from an NZ rugby crowd. The booing is so mild and any professional sports personality should be able to cope with it fine. I've been thinking it's possibly a double bluff from the Aussies to ask for it to stop, i.e. hope it increases to spur him on. Otherwise it just seems lame for them to bring it up like it's a big deal.
At West Ham's ground, Upton Park, the atmosphere can be a tad forbidding and special treatment was always saved for traitorous local boy David Beckham. The chants were mercilous including repeated references to the adventurous sexual habits of his wife and the hope that his children would die. How did Becks react? He laughed it off and talked about how much he enjoyed playing there as the atmosphere was second to none. Paul Ince, another traitorous swine copped it in the worst way forever and took the whiner's path of requesting it to stop. That didn't work.
It's all meaningless panto but I think Beckham showed his class about it and kept it in perspective. It's just a bit of Saturday theatre after all.

All Blacks for me, even with the abomination on the front. That French jersey is just a bit too blue...
Can't believe the Chiefs jersey made the final. That thing is rank.

Hard News: Friday Music: I'm Over The Edge, in reply to
Ah. Someone was telling me about this but couldn’t remember the artist. Thanks!
Edit: And I was about to “Cool! It’s available on the iTunes Store!”
It's on Beatport and I presume on Juno as well.

Oh, and speaking of James Blake, how about a fab funk version of The Wilhelm Scream from mean record label Tru Thoughts?

Jazzysport has put out some great stuff...
+2 on the Jazzysport tip!

That Nelson/Jamaican jerk rub is a staple of the Brightwater BBQ scene. Great with pork and fish as well.
Throw in some sunshine and the density of quality reggae loving folk down here and it's really no wonder we got a Windies match in the World Cup. I might start working on Martin Townshend to put together a craft ale version of Red Stripe for the big event!

This whole blog was worth it purely for the term "sticky boob panels".

Ooh! Alternative sleeve!
Yeh, Arista Records NZ pressing 1979. Mine and yours are the 2 sleeves I remember. Wonder if there were any others?
$15 from the Uni Bookshop though, sucker didn't come cheap!

Maybe we should all throw up our copies of That Summer in a salute?
Sadly, I was in the UK That Summer and a glorious one it was. As an 11 year old though, all I remember tooling around in a van with my parents was endless radio playlists of drab old Paul McCartney (Silly Love Songs) and Elton John with Kiki Dee. This album was a mainstay for me for about 10 years through the 80s though.

I'm pretty sure 20 something years ago when we last discussed this option, punk rock forbade us from getting involved in any such ceremonies sanctioned by The Man. The young 'uns in my office seem to love it though, and in 2013 all power to them. Do whatcha wanna, as the songs says.
