  • Hard News: Geekstravaganza,

as I switched the radio from Hauraki to radio B, used to be on 91.8 in those days and the studio number was 307 3918 to go with the frequency which was the trend at the time,..............................Oh yes and I believe our Russ was on the wireless at the time. Ain't that cool?

cue memory spike to when the number was 373 918 and Marcus Lush was ruling talkback, pre breakfast.

  • Hard News: Call it what you like,

I am not sure I would be so balanced or eloquent in the same circumstances Sophie. More power to you.

if it meant they were mentally replenished enough to give a shit about their work again.

The argument about how many resources we can chuck at a debatably small section of society is one that may never be truly resolved. However it pisses me off massively that someone could decide to do it, as a job, with that responsibility, and not follow through that little bit extra. Im not saying it’s not a terrifically hard or draining task, but goddamit, the system needs to work out how to juggle those drains, and individuals within the current system who realise they are starting to “not give a shit” need to start yelling for help.

  • Hard News: I'm marking Youth Week by…,

    nice link Deborah...

    fin:

But I'm not left to my own devices, because of situations arrived at both accidentally and deliberately. For example, soon my delightful better half will be home, and she'll say something like "Jesus christ, did you write all that?" and look at me in slightly worried dismay. And I'll react to that and knock it off. Because let's face it, there's really very little actual real return beyond obsessive interest in these discussion threads and endless online political conversations either. Maybe that's why they're usually full of boys?

oh crap, Jesus Christ Fin, Im glad you wrote all that :)

  • Radiation: New season,

And the 200th episode -- imaginatively titled 200, took the opportunity to send up itself, and every SF cliche you could think of, with malicious glee.

and when the do it well they do it really really well, the final episode of the final season of SG1 was a humdinger worthy of Vonnegut (almost), and a real curve ball for the the formulists, thanks for reminding me.

paying full list for Razor when it comes out.

yeppo, its got me fully hooked and champing at the bit for the new series. and i will be buying the DVD, unlike the SG1 DVDmovie, I cant reward that kind of crud, hollow are the Orai.

  • Radiation: New season,

this sends me back to Deadwood, which I pretty much missed.

if you like slowburn drama, thought the language in Angels in America was divine, and aint afraid of a little cussin' (actully a heroic quantity of cussin') I can wholeheartedly recommend Deadwood.

  • Radiation: New season,

The loooooong story arc hasn't always held my attention, but the conclusion has been top fun.

twas great, especially since they broke s/street rules and allowed a conclusion (i know....there will be tremors for a while yet) on a wednesday night. It helped ramp up the tension to a delicious level. shouting at the screen "no craig, dont leave her there.....dont do it,,,,,,"

Stargate would be the shining example - why did it keep going ...

Stargate movie just out, 'ark of truth' what a steaming pile of crud, good on them for tying up the orai storyline. It would have been substandard even as a normal episode though!

... Key plot idea: hero gets locked in room at the start of the episode and spends the next 45 mins analysing their relationships with people.

funny, i just did a catch up of the last three episodes of Stargate Atlantis (the wifey loves it, you must understand......atlantis is better than SG1....not sure that I would recomend to anyone though) . and there it was, three characters stuck in a room. cue tension, bonding, development.

  • Radiation: New season,

Lost went MIA for me in Season 2, but I'll admit to a hankering to rent the box set on DVD just to see if really does get better so maybe it's just AWOL.

This season is, IMO, a return to form -- so naturally, the WGA strike comes along. If my memory serves, its still uip in the air whether we're going to be seeing much more of Zoe Bell.

Zoe must have been acting way better than she did in deathproof. cos i cant recall what caracter she actually plays.....

also the latest season (well done to tvnz for playing them so quick, its the only way they will slow down teh torrents) is really good, there is some seriously cunning exposition going on there.
