do a Marx Jones
eh? I don't love our government but this aint 1981. Marx Jones is a hero because of the undeniable rightness of the cause, not just dropping shit on people is cool if you want to make ANY political point that pops into your head.

I am excited about the world cup and watching ALL the games. I just find it hard to get excited about Telecom, or Sky, or ANZ, or jerseys, or giant rugby balls etc.
The rugby, the atmosphere on the streets are much palatable.
(actually, in truth I am 100% suckered in by the white steinlarger cans... I will buy that shit)

Daphne Oram is a golden god.
Lately I have been re-immersing myself in The Skylarks who I first discovered a years ago on a comp. of South Africa township jazz. The Skylarks track struck me as something special but it took me many years to realise the singer was one Miriam Makeba.
..it has such a smooth swing. Like Blue Moon or Mr Sandman but with that African edge to the groove that is entirely impossible to replicate outside of that mysterious continent.
Makeba's later stuff is much more widely known of course. But no less essential. This track has some Al Green super groove going on;

the new label is meh. I don't know why it upsets me so. I hate rebranding of anything. Grumpy old man alert.

I am gonna have to have a rant... Croucher make some delicious beer. Their pilsner is delicious. I love it. What I think I like more than it's taste is its label. Dark, old worldy and different. WHY DID THEY FUCKING CHANGE IT? The new one is shit. They should change it back. It honestly makes me mutter and sigh as I stare at the beer fridge at Regional Wines, and then it makes me buy something else.
Ok, yes I am insane it is just a label. But this is the effect it has had on me. I am full of design rage.

It would be fair to say that not all .nz registrants -- let's say rianz.co.nz and apra.co.nz -- appreciate their fees being used to lobby in this direction.
However, it would be fair to say that many APRA members and RIANZ affiliates do appreciate it.
