Yup, I totally understand where you're coming from, but I didn't think we could really attribute Lawhs with the maturity of thought required to consider the complexities of unwanted sexual preferences in any sympathetic terms. His views offend me, but having him up for not offering a more nuanced or compassionate opinion in this instance feels tantamount to kicking a kid with a learning disability.

That mural’s the one to which Sofie refers on the corner of New North Road and Morningside Drive, behind the shops. It’s viewable from Morningside station (one stop west of Kingsland). There are other pieces right by the railway tracks on both sides*, in a car tunnel in the shops on the other side of New North Road, and on the end of that block, by the busstop.* the Health & Sports piece pictured, & opposite is graffiti that I imagine isn’t commissioned.

Nope, other side of New North, next to/above the BMW dealership, thank god. The only bad thing about not living in those apartments is that I can see them.
I love this neighbourhood for the graffiti. A couple of times I've been utterly horrified when someone's tagged one of the pieces, or it's disappeared wholesale, but there's a lot to be said for the slightly different creative model that's less "leave my art alone", and more "sweet, we'll do a new one".

That’s the view from my bedroom window. Suffice it to say, I’m more than a little apprehensive about its future.
Just as an aside – the other day my flatmate drew my attention to a bunch of people getting wedding photos taken in front of that particular piece. He thought it was all kinds of wrong, but I reckon that’d be the coolest wedding album ever. Granted, when I asked him what kind of wedding photos he'd want, he said "none at all".

ALSO, Labour's "where are the jobs" line is satisfyingly succinct, but I'd quite like 'em to also thrash together a line on "this is going to drive wages down, so while you may already have a job, don't think for a second that these changes won't affect you."

My younger brother (not the one with the toddler), who’s sufficiently visually-impaired that he’s a member of RNZFB, will also be thrilled to hear that there are employers falling over themselves to employ an invalid.
I heard Matthew Hooton say something on RNZ the other day about employers deciding over two candidates and taking the one that’s been on the dole for longer.
I’m wondering if the “investment” into getting people back into work bypasses direct support of beneficiaries in favour of providing subsidies or tax incentives to companies that hire long-term unemployed.

What, the injection? IUD? Both those options are still mildly controversial, aren’t they? Also, what about solo fathers?
What worries me about this report is that the bullet points seem… not-completely-unreasonable… at face value. Eg, it’s a little difficult to put a case against penalising addicts who refuse counselling. Ultimately it seems the working group has done job quite adequately: suggest semi-palatable “solutions” to a “problem” that never should have been framed as a problem in the first place. DPB recipients remain sufficiently demonised for the near future.

Primal Scream were amazing, Grinderman were amazing, but the revelation of the day was someone I already love: Grayson Gilmour played to about 20 people, and his set was incredible. His band consisted merely of drums, bass, him on keyboards and a cellist (FUCKING EH), but there was this swell and ebb of sound – remarkable variety & nuance in texture and volume – and I still can’t work out how they did it. These beautiful songs punctuated by rich, full climaxes that just kind of engulfed me. Literally gave me goosebumps. LITERALLY.
Seriously, it’s a travesty that this guy isn’t more popular.
