Despite the story being all about her tits, the pornstar kept her top on the entire time.

I still say that, despite her being clothed, the Chelsea Charms story was infinitely more prurient that last's night's Campbell bit.

And, like Steve, I had to laugh at all the "Well... if there's kids around..." comments. When have children ever had a problem with breasts? That's just unthinking plebs saying what they think they're supposed to say.

Also I use my real name.

    Me-oww!

Really? And TV3s extended Boobs on Bikes coverage is about one man's push to try and have the pornography industry accepted into a prudish society?

I don't recall seeing it, but I imagine it was little better. However, you're the one aiming the complaint at Campbell Live. For the record, you're probably right that a story with nipples is likely (at least partly) an attempted ratings grab; I just don't much like the implication (by ommision) that it's not as bad on the other side.

I thought the quite telling bit in the story last night was when they pointed out it wasn't against the law for women to sunbathe naked. So the story, such as it is, is that one woman is trying to encourage more women to go topless at the beach. Awesome. Ring the Pulitzer committee.

I didn't say it was best thing since Edward R. Murrow, but we both learned something from it, so that's not a bad result.

My point - I have heard from a lot of people that Campbell Live is on seriously shaky ground, and they open the season with a story all about a topless woman. Join the dots.

    Noted.

Anyhow, I'm just sparring. Hope you've had a good summer.

  • Up Front: All Together Now,

since she decided not to inform the police/prosecutor/court(?) of her fantasy she is trading on the notion that women are generally opposed to group sex to achieve an easier conviction.

So, if I'm the victim of an unprovoked assault in the street, I have to inform the police/prosecutor/court that I'd previously fantasised about being the heavyweight champion of the world?

    That's insane.

  • Up Front: All Together Now,

Gang rapes are surely easier to prosecute, because as everyone knows all women are abhorrently opposed to having sex with a group of men.

Easier than what? (Also, your sarcasm here seems faulty).

sorry, thought you were implying that Close Up had stooped lower than Campbell Live, rather than a sea of exactly the sameness.

Farrier is on Nightline, not (as far as I know) Campbell Live.

The Campbell Live story may have had nude titties in it, but the story was about the frequent double-standards with respect to men's and women's toplessness, and one woman's challenging of that alleged inequity.

If anyone can find any actual socio-political value to Close Up's Chelsea Charms story, let me know.

(PS. D., if you're going perpetuate rumours about the demise of Cambell Live, mightn't a disclosure of interest be appropriate?) :)

Hoo boy! Don't get me started on Close Up. For some reason, I've watched a few eps recently and, unbelievably, Sainsbury is even worse than I remember.

Virtually every single sentence begins with "Now, look, I mean..." and the faces of most inteviewees display a mixture of embarrassment and mild disgust at his invariably dim-witted questions. Many times, I've seen two guests have to virtually interview each other as the host consistently fails to grasp the issues at stake.

How long can it go on?

Personally I reckon the defence might be able to find six witnesses prepared to swear that she did.

Oh, great. So we may as well not prosecute any gang rapes, then.
