Well I, for one, loved the book so much that when you said the TV film was trash, I didn't watch it. I love Ihimaera's writing, and whilst everyone is entitled to their opinion, Craig, do you not think you're being just a wee bit harsh on him? I'm no literary or intellectual giant, but you surely must admit that The Matriarch was merit worthy?

At the risk of sounding superior, I was 13 in 1977, and thus far too grown up to fall in love with any of them. My favourite fims of 1977 were Close Encounters, and Julia. Richard Dreyfuss was my favourite actor. Now him, I had a crush on.

What a very welcome sight this was, when I opened up the laptop after lunch. (It's the first week back and it's very quiet around here. I'm currently sitting here at the puzzle table with 3 kids, and there are another 2 elsewhere. There's supposed to be 45.) Anyway, I will be very interested to read whatever you write, not because I will necessarily always agree with you, and quite often I won't have the slightest idea what you are on about. But I do love you so. And that makes it worth it.

See? That right there is why I don't do the BDO - well, yes, there is the small matter of really disliking loud music. Speaking of security guards, is it my imagination or is there a little bit of OTT about the security at the Powerstation? I went, for the very first time, to the PS to see Phoenix Foundation. And the amount of security people there was ludicrous.

I never talk about it here, really, but I'm spooky. Just so you know. It's why I don't find death horrifying, or talk of dead people sitting in a room unnerving. Megan's right, Emma. Keep talking to your Mum. She won't talk back straightaway, but if you listen really carefully, she will talk back.
