Sentences like this, in the Coddington's response to Grant Hannis:
"Two paragraphs further on, I point out using national apprehension figures from 1996 to 2005 the total offences committed by Asiatics aged 17 to 50 has risen by 53 per cent."
point to some ingrained, racist thinking. "Asiatics" isn't a neutral term.
I was also surprised to see the Herald on Sunday give Coddington a pulpit to rail against not just the Press Council decision, but also against several complainants, before the embargo had expired.
Clearly, Coddington enjoys the full support of ACP and HoS editors for what she writes.

I'm so glad I don't get hiccoughs... especially in your presence, Sam. :P

Have you been to the North Shore beaches lately? Those who don't mow their lawns all day long take their dogs out for defecation there and to feed them seagulls and little children building sand pas because the high mortgage repayments mean they can't afford any more Butch rolls.
Now that's depressing.

Hmm... think there'd be any money in organising say the Briggs & Stratton Cup?

We're not a sailing nation. We're a nation of lawn-mowing mortgage slaves.

I think Ben's posts sum it up the best. You have to believe in all the "natural" stuff and if it doesn't work, well, you didn't believe hard enough.
On a personal note, I did my back in ages ago, a sports injury that's taken a very long time to get over. Was persuaded to see a chiropractor who told me I had a "shear because of misdirected muscular energy". Being a polite idiot, I let her "treat" me. It didn't do any harm but absolutely no good whatsoever.
What helped however was having an MRI to accurately gauge the extent of the injury, going on painkillers and anti-inflammatories and continuing to exercise. I confess to ignoring the doctor's orders about being careful, but nevertheless, what he said and was not only correct but it was the only thing that worked.
It's very easy to write off modern medicine as a Big Pharma Plot Against Humanity, but you need to look at the other side of the coin: who benefits from that, without taking any responsibility for the outcome? Could it be the essential oil peddlers and holistic healing crowd who actually have commercial interest in flogging their products and services to people?
Also, Eleanor wrote:
I can prescribe a gargle containg essential oil of thymus vulgaris for strep throat, and it's really effective.
I thought only registered physicians and some nurses could prescribe medications?

The study suggests that once the products containing the oil were not used, the moobies subsided because... the oils were found to act like oestrogen.
Maybe the naturo/homeo/something-path community could offer up its children for a long-term trial to test whether or not the above is correct, and if so, to determine what the safe levels are? That would be commitment par excellence.

No, Stephen. That's not the reason.

I mentioned the possible gynecomastic effects of lavender/tea tree oil as part of a wider discussion, not in the context of the bill per se.
There's another study as well, by the NIEHS. I agree it's a small number of affected boys, and more research is needed.
Still, there does seem to be a link... feel free to point me to studies that show lavender/tea tree oil do not mimic oestrogen and suppress androgens.
