There is that moment when the abled - in any sense - come into contact with the differently abled /disabled - in any sense - when unconscious and unwilled dynamics come into play. That instant of "oh the poor thing" or the unspoken jolt as the brain searches through the archives for previous encounters had, previous words spoken. One of the reasons I so loved this story, David, is that Paul could be any of us. We are all, every one of us, damaged yet enriched, by our lives events, by others impact on us. And if we could only recognise that, we would all be better off for it. Paul is gorgeousness, tell him I said so. And I heartily approve of swooning.

That's an amazing site, Simon - so rich, and storied. I look forward to spending time delving, and I apologise, once again, for my brother's complete ignorance in this matter. Oh well, his (their) loss.

Oh mixed emotions on this one, David. And welcome! I had no idea this was A Thing, so thanks for drawing attention to it. The event itself, of course, I found terrible. The reaction to it, well I had mixed emotions on that. But I found myself looking at these depictions in different medium - cakes, costumes, lego - with some sadness. It seems, to me, a strange thing to want to capture in these ways. Do people try to do this with suicide bombings? Or other similarly terroristic events? I don't know. I find it distasteful, but the discussion of it interesting and edifying.

When you get to Te Aroha, Alan, go to the Bright Yellow Villa (I can't remember it's name) that sells heaps of Crown Lynn. I seem to remember they had heaps of old vinyl too.
