I've never met a non-genuine one.
I've met one or two who follow the form but aren't necessarily nice people. And one who was so non-violenter-than-thou that I just wanted to hit him on general principle. But mostly you're correct.

Still, the differences between a) Orthodox and Catholic churches and b) Catholic and Protestant are really only of interest if you are debating any of the areas where those churches do not agree. Say, transubstantiation, the doctrine of justification or the Pope.
The people of Northern Ireland might have difficulty with that, to name but one area.

A friend of mine in the US is a non-theist Quaker. He seems to have all the upside of community without the downside of odious moral edicts. I rather admire him
Genuine Quakers rock. But I still wouldn't want to be one.

The clip shown as an example of rock music's power to wreak evil appears to be the Sweet in concert:
Slade, I think. That looks like Noddy Holder in the big hat. Doesn't sound right either

Still can't hate this. The Sweet, 'Fox on the Run'
First band I ever saw live, Brooklands Bowl, New Plymouth, 1972 or 73 supported by [gasp] Daniel "Daddy don't you walk so fast" Boone. I was eleven. They still have a place in my musical pantheon. Some dreck in the early canon for sure (Chinn/Chapman) but some gems once they asserted their independence. Brian Connolly (lead singer) was apparently the half-brother of Mark McManus (Taggart) but they didn't find out until their mother died and they both attended the funeral.
Desolation Boulevard would be the best of their albums, IMHO.

Queen St has about thirty cheap delicious restaurants the cuisine of which my grandmother may have called oriental.
Heh. I remember the first time I ordered sweet and sour pork in a restaurant and this pink goo arrived and I thought "this isn't how my mother makes it" followed by "Where's the pineapple?"

No offence, but in a lot of ways, Newmarket sucks.
As a visitor only, these days, I'd agree. And I'd posit that most of the reason for that is people like Brewer with their "vision" of what shopping ought to be. Perhaps we should have a whip round and buy him some glasses...

Remember back in the day when proper good gaffer was quite hard to come by? The rockstar roadies would saunter around with their own special stock.
And you'd find some actor had used your fricken expensive gaffer to put up a poster on the wall!
