  • Hard News: Holiday Musings,

    James Cameron is Canadian.

I take it all back then. Shows how much interest I have in JC.
The shit storytelling, and all the gushing about the "understated ecological message of the film" ....not my cuppatea.
    Battle? It was a massacre.

  • Hard News: Holiday Musings,

It was dopey as all get out, with a trite message and unoriginal story

The ending, with teh evil colonisers being shipped back to earth seemed like Cameron's attempt to redress his countries disgraceful history toward the indigenous tribes.
Wounded Knee still happened Jimmy, you can't fantasise it away.

They'd both be very large sums.

Im turning green, and its not my eco friendly coffee doing it.

    Kate McGarrigle Dies

Loved her style, now I feel sad.

Jeez, could you guys possibly look for a fact or two to go on before cranking up your grand chorus of disapproval? Your-tutting is keeping people awake in neighbouring countries.
Personally, if I was a 24 year-old pop star, I'd be havin' it large.

You jump to conclusions Sir. I don't disapprove and am not tut-tutting.
She can and will do as takes her fancy.
It's just so much easier on the mind, having it large, after a visit to the accountant.
Im envious, if you want something to bash me over the head with.

  • Legal Beagle: David Garrett wins,

It has to be deeper than that, or young people wouldn't be voting for them as well

That would be the offspring I mentioned, influenced by their clueless parents.
Humans are hugely suggestible and children even more so.
We have to** learn/be taught** a massive amount of what we need to "survive". And when the definition of survival passed on is fucked, people become fucked.

And then there was Helen & Co who coped a lot of flake, for no justifiable reason, just because people have the capacity to be capricious little shits.

  • Legal Beagle: David Garrett wins,

Also exacerbated by the "daddy knows best" tendencies of the current bunch voted for by our fellow citizens and approved in opinion polls. It seems we like being told what to do.

I despair when I know that most of those people were born in that post war daze dubbed the baby boom. And were supposed to be the generation that would make a break with the past.
The conditioning was to strong and daddy was always at work, or sleeping "work " off.
So most of them took the first opportunity to stuff their bank accounts, cry poverty, and turn their back on any thing resembling a principle so they could fret and dote over their offspring.
Which brings us to the present.

Though it depends on one's chosen lifestyle, but I doubt Ms Allen has cheap tastes, somehow.

That means she is in danger of becoming another irrelevant celebrity living on past glories indulging in crass displays of wealth beyond her means.
Or she could live within the means afforded by her income, which would be a whole lot better that 80% of the global population.

  • Speaker: The Architecture of Elsewhere,

Tried getting to one in your lunch hour from your CBD job in the 09?

You must be talking about yourself, I don't work in the CBD.
And lunch at a beach? You mean on a grassed area near the sea don't you? Which is easy to do.
Eating on a sandy beach is no fun.

INXS were hugely popular and commercial in their day, and kept begging to be allowed to play the BDO without success.

And I bet they still thought they were an indie band just gigging around Sydney, trying to get on. Even tho' they had been stadium rockers for a few years by the time BDO got going and was looking for street cred, not that other thing which INXS had.
I got a shock when I saw Kirk Pengelly on Masterchef Celebrity.
