I wonder what the impact of the case Winston Peters took against the Electoral Commission will be on Dirty Politics?

Yes, that looks very worrying. We wage more extreme war on mosquitoes, create a vaccine or tolerate Zika induced population control plus an increase in microcephaly and the support required for these people and their families.

Hopefully the microcephaly connection will be disproven. Zika itself doesn't appear to be too bad. -

Cliff is one of the Atkinson complainants whose case eventually resulted in Funded Family Care and the New Zealand Public Health and Disability Act Amendment 2013.

Presumably these people who have been in a privileged position compared with the rest of us will at the end of March be paid 40 hours a week at minimum wage under FFC, if they are lucky.
If they are not and must make other arrangements for care it is their disabled family member who is most likely to pay the highest price, going into care or coming under the haphazard care of strangers while the family comes under additional pressure trying to make up for the loss of income.Even if they are eligible for FFC it is likely to create strain because of the tight conditions and because it is likely to be less income than they are used to.
Put the disabled person first and be fair. Is that so much to ask?

Community inclusion? Yeah right!. Not at the Trusts Arena in Henderson which routinely instructs Enviro Waste to place enormous rubbish skips in mobility parking spaces. This is the most recent offence, skips required for an event on the weekend. Obviously people with mobility issues are less important to the Trusts Arena than rubbish.

More great work by Kirsty Johnston too.
She's thorough and accurate, it is a good job.
I don't understand why the system appears to allow the Crown to bring in irrelevant material, such as its fear that a case will open floodgates. Surely cases should be looking primarily at the complaints and the circumstances surrounding them.
Legal arguments often seem a bit weird to me but surely the Crown's implication that providing residential institutions for people to be incarcerated and die in discharges its responsibility is outrageous.

Thanks for this post Emma. I feel so sad for Christchurch people, every one of you, but in particular the 1 in 5 who are still waiting for their homes to be sorted. My respect to all of you, those who have left and those who remain. Kia kaha
