I used to think that I was bad with names and faces, but I have come to realise that ...
...sometimes I just make a dick of myself.

As ever, John Rogers is the king of metaphor
And the comments to that piece are almost as good...

Was on a United flight sometime ago from LAX (not a good start to most stories, I know) with a complicated series of onward flights through Chicago, and flight number one was delaid so that the whole string fell apart. Did the 'what now' at customer service with the cheapest no refundable, non transferable ticket available.
They said, "no problem we can put you on Delta via Atlanta instead, but if I sort the ticketing out here you will miss the flight - so I will ring their gate to get them to do it and you will need to run".
I said what about my bag, they said "we will pull it out of the system"... In LAX... at short notice... to a different terminal... yeah right!
Anyway, got given my new ticket after I boarded and when I finally got to Savanna some hours latter there was my bag waiting for me, with airline security seals on all the zips just to make sure... seriously impressive!

My son has good male role models and likes quiet nerdy activities. My brothers think he's a jessie and have tried several times to give him socket sets and stuff in the hope that this will tough him up a bit.
Until I had children I would never have believedf that two boys with the same genetics and the same background/environment could be SO completely different. Certainly I don't think that a socket set would change things ;-)

(1) Peering - We really do have to do something about this, is it really back to 2005 that you wrote about this Russell?
(2) Cost of international bandwidth - stories of people resorting to portable drives and flights to LA because Air NZ is cheaper than email are just ridiculous
(3) Market demand - Is there really enough market demand to sustain such large promissed taxpayer funded spends? Evidence the customer split between entry level ADSL service and full speed plans for the various ISPs, and the slow take up of fibre even when it is offered.

Kedgley, at least, genuinely opposed the bill on its content.
What the! This is the woman who wants stringent labelling, testing and certification of food, but is happy to have any old rubbish in "complementary" potions. Yesterday she was hammering away on non-approved ingredients in baby formula, when in her world you could just call it a medicine and it would be OK.
