  • Hard News: The Short and Long of It,

Surely you'll be having a thread where the actual users, ie us, can suggest improvements.

    Or is that this thread?

  • Hard News: The Short and Long of It,

I'm hoping to have a redesign that better integrates PA "classic" and System in place by the end of the year. And that much-desired edit button will be introduced as part of a revamp of the forums functionality within the month.

Surely you'll be having a thread where the actual users, ie us, can suggest improvements. That's how it works these days, right?

I have about 5 little things I'd like to see fixed.

  • Hard News: On Ideas,

Goff says he knew Bruce Burgess owned 3 properties when he complained that Mr. Burgess was ineligible for the dole because of his wife's income being above the threshhold. Sez Goff:

Mr Burgess's situation would not be different to that of other middle-income earners who had bought property in the hope it would eventually create a nestegg and then have suddenly been made redundant.

Jesus H. Christ in a chicken basket! People working the night shift at Foodtown on $12 an hour are supposed to subsidise this guy because he overextended himself, in order to avoid him losing his third property?!

This sort of thing is why, after 16 years, I stopped voting Labour.

  • Island Life: The Guilt of Clayton Weatherston,

    Weatherston trial a 'national disgrace'

The trial of Clayton Weatherston was a disgrace as it allowed a killer to continually persecute his dead ex-girlfriend and her family, a women's advocate group says.

And could the media stop publishing the pictures of murderers and thier victims together? That's just super-insensitive.

Second most reviled figure - Judith Ablett-Kerr.

I'll give a brickbat to Justice Potter, for a) allowing that ridiculous defence* and b) grinning and chuckling throughout the case. In a sane world, she owes Leslie Elliott a big apology.

*I'm quite prepared to be corrected by any resident... law-talking guys, but I'd imagine that the widely-held beleif that the defendant is entitled to any defence they choose is not quite correct.

I'm so disappointed that everyone seems cool with this abusive outburst. I thought we were better than that.

Will have to break the habit of a lifetime and buy the TV Guide, I suppose.

It's worth it just for the letters to the editor; hilarious!
