  • Southerly: Late for What?,

Rebecca, I got an email from Peter saying his Dad did too.

Though the ones I know of were from Managere and Peter's Dad's ones were from Tauranga.

Lifehacker had a tip for guessing the corrent sex of a person with a non-English or unusual name. Do a Google image search and see which sex is more predominant in the results.

"Excellent" I thought, I'll give that a go and tried my friend Dom, to see if it would work on anyone. I got pictures of houses.

So then I tired the name of the Indian man I worked with: Debi.

Oh and watch the out for the pains of spelling!

"Hadyn". And thanks David for spelling it right first go. I've had "Haydn" "Hayden" "Hadon" "Haydon" (the DomPost did that) and the worst one "Loelyn" (poor handwriting by someone caused that).

But the wierdest thing (and this is sort of @ Robyn), I have met another Hadyn Green. Yet I OWN the Google search.

But for the bestest craziest names one must head to the mighty continent of North America and scan the players in American Football:

    Sinorice Moss
    D'Brickashaw Ferguson
    Tank Johnson
    Little John Flowers

    Wait a minute...Padme and Anakin!

Isn't it much much worse that the woman named her children after lovers! I mean all jokes about Christchurch aside, that's creepy.

Congratulations! I love the way she said "dude".

Some actual, real, honest-to-gods names my friends and I encountered growing up.

    Twins: Benson and Hedges
Wayne King (1984 Sports Boy at Otumoetai College, name etched forever on a board hanging above the hall)
    Moro Barsley

  • Hard News: Contains strong language,

__Vulunteer__ being the operative word. I'm job hunting at the moment, and I don't see either subject coming up in interviews, and I certainly won't be volunteering or answering any questions along those line. Not that I think any prudent employer would ask.

I might be wrong but the ethnicity question is optional isn't it? I know that the religion question is and that there is no sexual orientation questions in the census.

But please, when answering ethnicity, do not put "mongrel" or "New Zealander" as it really really doesn't help. Try figuring out which demographics in the country need help through policy when ll you've got to go on is "New Zealander". It's not racist it's just dumb.

If you are a "mongrel" tick as many boxes as apply to you, StatsNZ encourage you to.

As for Cuba...I like their rum.

Is that any worse in a moral sense?

Yes. As I doubt the Hospital system picks the people most likely to look good on TV and have an "interesting" story.

    RE: donation

You can actually donate a lot of things without dying. Bone Marrow is one. My friend just died of bone marrow cancer (I can't spell Lukaemia) and was unable to get a transfer because only two people in the whole world showed up on the database as a match. and one was an umbilical cord.

    RE: the TV show
The producers of the show obviously aren't going to show (ala American Idol) all the kidney-needers they went trhough before picking their final three.

You might find it horrible voting for one of the three, I find it horrible that the producers picked three from hundreds.
