  • Hard News: The March for Democracy,

After spending fifteen minutes reading that stuff all I can think is 'who gives a shit!' The evil that men do, and all that. It was bad. They, whoever they were, were bad. Bad shit continues to happen, in spite of, or because of (e.g. Guantanamo) the lies and BS that was/is propagated on both sides before, during, and after 9/11.

And what have we learned? Not a lot, if recent evidence is anything to go by. Perhaps I could read that Farmer book, but I suspect it would disappoint and sadden me even more. If you start to believe it was easily preventable, where does that leave us?

(also only time SGABTO was ever played live by the Smiths)

Wondered if this might draw some Smiths fans out of the woodwork. There was a comment saying it was a live recording off the desk, but the footage is good to see. I'm just off to play my William it was really nothing 7". There is a light, and all that... ;-)

Group trip then cos I saw that differently twice and recordari was responsible for both comments.

Shh! I was trying to build on my seer status. In my defence, I hadn't seen Emma's before I posted mine.

Thinking scientifically - are earthquakes more likely to occur near to the source of corruption, or can an energetic temptress cause an earthquake on the other side of the world?

Yes, if it is a vengeful deity we're alluding to, then what the hell was this all about? Death Toll in China Quake Rises to 617. I'm guessing this wasn't preceded by a series of mass demonstrations with low cut Communist attire.

In breaking news, Magnitude 6.9 quake south of Taiwan.

It did strike me that at least one was likely to occur somewhere. There's a magnitude 6 quake or similar every other day, according to this.

That was clever. I posted after Emma, but got in earlier. Weird.

"multi-purpose branding iron" in a perfectly vanilla gift shop.

I'm strangely reminded of an earlier discussion about 'brand Russell'.

Seems I got the wrong end of the schtick.

Blokes on bikes? Not sure it will garner quite the controversy of the Steve Crow equivalent. Unless they are in Backless Chaps.

  • Hard News: The March for Democracy,

Charlie Wilson's war? Just as a backgrounder. I doubt all of what I read on this, but one thing that seems to be required for real truthiness to prevail is a sufficient amount of time to pass. How long? How long is a piece of string?

Needless to say, I think we have some way to go. What is already apparent is that Bush (junior and senior), Rumsfeld and co were not above some pretty dodgy manipulations of the truth to advance their agendas in Iraq, and the Meddle East©*. We can agree on that, right? If they weren't clever enough to orchestrate it (Iraq I mean) then they were at least too stupid to prevent it.

*That was a typo, but I'm owning it.

No equivalent for blokes, "beef dressed as veal"

Pork dressed as piglet? Or should it be suckling pig? Doesn't quite have the same 'zing', but now I know what I'm having for dinner.

You noticed that too. I was about to quote Blackadder, but that would be offensive to nursie.

(Merely thinking the words 'every day is boobquake day' makes me start mentally singing them to the tune of Morrissey's 'Everyday is Like Sunday'. Which is... incongruous.)

There is nothing incongruous about that.

Every day is a day in which life imitates Morrissey.

@RB Snap. That was my next choice.
