What amuses me most is being accused of trying to derail the thread with pointless discussion

But the heart of the battle is between Grigg and Mayes.

actually simon's and my main disagreement is on the relevance of how evil the majors are and the need to bring it up over and over especially in a climate of diversified distribution, particularly when simon has been on the non artist side of some pretty big music deals, which I think he did pretty well out of.

who thinks that illegal downloading is theft and should be protected against through legislation and DRM,

    not true either

I don't criticize people for trying to do so and especially not on the grounds that my children have got used to breaking copyright law so we should make it legal.

But the heart of the battle is between Grigg and Mayes.

I don't think simon would agree with this either.

    arguing on the Internet.

that bit hits the spot perfectly. the entertainment value recognised at last.

.....or in this case watching people(s) who don't do something or work in different fields, sit round telling people who aren't present how stupid said not present people are, and how they (people(s)) could do things better, without actually demonstrating the infallibility of their wisdom by putting these "clear as daylight" new methods into practice themselves and taking the easy money.

  • Speaker: Copyright Must Change,

EPMU also represents journalists and such (i.e. people who make money off the sale of copyrights.)

interesting position to be in. on one hand they represent workers who don't want to be doing the extra effort to address copyright infringement at isp level and on the other hand they represent copyright material creators.
In a journalists case is the copyright material owned by the company they work for, and does EPMU represent that company?
Also do freelance journalists (who would represent their own copyrights) belong to EMPU?

what does the EMPU rep see as the central or over riding concern for their client base?
