Eddie: private schooling isn't what it's cracked up to be, as far as my own experiences are concerned.
From an educational standpoint, I totally agree. In that respect the private school I (breifly) went to was no better than the public. However, that's just one aspect. Private schools have a very strong social element, obviously aimed at entrenchement of class hegemony.

Yeah, I heard the principal of Grammar on the radio a few days ago, and he used this phrase 3 times in about 3 minutes. I'm pretty sure it's code for something approximating "our sort of people."

Apart from all the obvious, a standout for me was the 1976 Doctor Who 6-episode story The Seeds of Doom wherein various people became infected with a virus (or something) that gradually turned them into plant-creatures.
A horrible death is bad enough, but one so slow was just, to me, aged probably 6 or 7 by the time it aired here, horrifying.
Like philipmatthews' comment above re. ghosts, the fact that is seemed so possible really ramped up the terror.

A lot of Ringo's uniqueness is due to his playing left-handed on a right-handed kit, meaning that a tom roll is led by the left hand, rather than the right, which is the more orthodox way.
So a top-to-bottom (ie left-to-right) tom roll "ba-dah, ba-dah, ba-dah..." goes "L-R, L-R, L-R.." instead of the normal "R-L, R-L, R-L...". This results in subtle timing issues between each "ba-dah" as the left hand struggles to get underneath the previous right "-dah" for the next "ba-", whereas a right-leading drummer has no such issue, since the hands do not cross.

I was actualy pleasantly suprised how good Daltry and Townsend still were on stage. You'd excuse a couple of guys in their 60s if they kind of took it easy and just took the money. But they were filled with energy and played a solid set.
I'm not pretending they were at their peak (I imagine at their peak they must have been about the best live act ever).
That's pretty much my take on it too. All things considered, we had a great time.
