Is a copy of the National party leaflet available online?
-
While we're talking about copyright, I'm quite amused by all the talk in the media around 'applying for copyright' for the tino rangatiratanga flag.
If anyone needs any help 'applying' for copyright, I'm more than happy to help out for my usual fee of $500. Cash.

Oh, and I notice that the 'Alien Lizards' are now so confident in their grasp on power that they have sent one of their number to openly walk amongst us. As he himself (it itself...?) has said:
the truth will out...
-
causing consternation by insisting (I believe sincerely) that when he says lizards, he means lizards.
That's pretty much the impression Jon Ronson got as well, although he also points out that the conspiracy theorists do tend to use a lot of anti-semitic codewords as well.

Paradoxically, I think this is connected with with left-wing success in making open racism unacceptable.
So for example, the open antisemitism of early Social Credit went underground as opposition to "international bankers" and became so coded that by now, many current followers of the movement are probably genuinely unaware of the original significance of those phrases.
Stephen, have you read Jon Ronson's "Them: Adventures with extremists"?
"Above all," began the chair of the meeting, "David Icke represents a political threat. His writings are anti-Semitic. David Icke states that the global elite, the Illuminati who dominate every aspect of our lives, are genetically descended from an extraterrestrial race of reptiles who came to earth some time ago in the form of humans, who are capable of changing their shape, who engage in ritual child sacrifice, who drink blood . . ."
The coalition shook their heads wearily. In terms of code words, they had now heard it all.
"What is this crap, this metaphorically hidden language?" asked a member of Anti-Racist Action, a visiting scientist from Somalia. "Who is a lizard? It's bullshit. Bullshit! As a human being, you have to use proper language."
"What do these words imply?" I asked him.
"What do you think they imply?" he replied. "Lizards? Reptiles? Cockroaches? Amphibians? They imply hatred. Racist hatred."
"Do you think that, when David Icke says lizards, he means Jews?" I asked.
"Of course!" he said. "What is lizard? What is amphibian? It is a pile of rubbish. Why he's using those terminologies such as lizards? This vile language. Vile bullshit. I'm totally, culturally shocked."

Hold on, chaps. Merely because Wishart mutters about bankers does not make him an anti-semite. I cannot recall Wishart making anti-semetic remarks (quite the opposite, in fact) or discussing a Jewish banking conspiracy. The inference is being drawn here, not in Investigate.
My point was more in relation to the 'lost to history' bit.
The quote was:
...the tip of the 'Secret Bankers ruling the world' conspiracy theory. It's a classic for a reason, although the reason has been lost to history.
To which my reply was:
Not entirely. As DeepRed mentioned upthread, there's more than a whiff of 'Elders of Zion' to any 'secret bankers' conspiracy.
My point being that the reason hasn't been lost to history. The roots of most anti-semitic/secret banker conspiracy theories can be traced back to the Tsar's forgery.
That's an entirely different thing from suggesting Wishart is an anti-semite, which I humbly submit I didn't do, yeronner.

I had more concerns with the phrase "the Herald starts a serious debate". The rest of the article just provided entertainment after that promise.
I got quite a strange look from my neighbour this morning. I think it was probably the choked laughter I was suppressing, having just picked up the herald out of the letter box and idly scanned that sentence before heading back inside.

Every time I encounter Investigate in magazine racks, I reverse the cover or attempt to conceal it behind other mags. Adolescent, I know, but one must make such gestures to combat the enemies of democracy.
Heh. Every time I'm in the video shop, I make a point of moving 'what the bleep do we know' into the childrens fairy tales section.

New Scientist is a bit of a rag these days, and has been for a while, at least as far as a lot of their particle physics and cosmology coverage is concerned.
To a point, Lord Copper. In it's defence, it covers the whole spectrum of anything that is remotely 'science', from psychology, to biology, to chemistry, to climate, to...particle physics. Every week. Frankly, if you can get your head round all the info it crams in in any single issue before the next one is on the shelves, you're doing better than me.
That, my friends, is the tip of the 'Secret Bankers ruling the world' conspiracy theory. It's a classic for a reason, although the reason has been lost to history.
Not entirely. As DeepRed mentioned upthread, there's more than a whiff of 'Elders of Zion' to any 'secret bankers' conspiracy.

Thanks, Simon.
I suspected you probably had some involvement, and would at least know what I was talking about.
