‘Have you tried googling it’ sometimes produces a blank stare.

I've only ever encountered "ETA" on PAS, which is partly why I spent a couple of months (yes, months) pondering its meaning. Glad I'm not the only one who didn't get it first time.

What does ETA mean other than “estimated time of arrival”?

Edited To Add. Too me ages to figure it out.

The second is ‘oh, I feel so sorry for his wife’, and frankly, I just don’t think that’s the point of this whole offensive episode. She married that dork

Feeling sorry for her for marrying the dork would just be pointless. I'm sure she knew perfectly well that he was a spineless "mirror man" before they tied the knot, and even if she didn't it's not like divorce ends your life these days. One assumes that she thinks his good points outweigh his bad points, even if many of us are struggling to find many good points to weigh.

TBH it really is up to Bronagh to find Key’s public celebrity-banging list offensive or inoffensive. I just said to someone else that if I were her I’d be humiliated not because of the list, but because I was married to such a huge fucking DORK who thought it was Prime Ministerially endearing to be snarfling it up on the radio, but I suppose that’s another issue altogether.

Yes, it is up to her, but I don’t think it’s out of order for people to point out that she doesn’t have the same pulpit as her husband to express that outrage. He gets to be a twatcock in public, and the most she can hope for is a brief whinge in a woman’s mag – that probably already lionised her husband anyway. That’s not exactly even, which is certainly the problem I have with being told that Bronagh can get angsty in her own right. Of course she can, but we probably won’t get to hear about it, or hear from Key that, actually, he’s been a real fuck-knuckle, and, no, it’s not really good manners to talk about things like that on radio when you’re the PM.

    But Key wasn’t one

Never said he was. Read carefully.

If my partner feels “humiliated” by my constant paeans to the hotness of Russell Tovey

And you announce them on your PAR show? With an audience of 10s-of-000s? And he gets an equal platform to tell you to STFU and spend a week reflecting on your sins on the naughty sofa-bed?

Yeah, didn't think so. Come back to us when you've got a real equivalence with Key's broadcasting antics.

And at the time I, and others, pointed out that the Cullen Fund already appears to be over-invested in NZ. Key was talking 40%, IIRC, and learned commentators said even 25% would be excessive given the size of the NZ economy relative to the world.

ETA: However, public ooh'ing and ahh'ing over Key's record as an investment banker notwithstanding, I am far from awed by his achievements as an economic manager on a national scale. He hasn't got past the "getting me rich" mindset and into the "this is everyone's money" one.

I would regard an unproductive behaviour as the high % of Kiwi Saver $s that end up offshore.

Except that NZ is far, far, far too small to be a good resting place for all but a small fraction of what's in KS. It would be poor investment management to plonk lots of KS dollars into NZ just because it's an NZ-based fund, as many others have observed. KS is a retirement fund, not a sovereign investment fund. The managers are expected to act in a prudent manner, and that means not over-exposing to a single market.

Do you think Key would change his mind about doing this if I threw up on him?

    Depends. Are you hot?
