  • Hard News: "Rubbish" is putting it politely,

back in oz they had a comedy show where a guy would climb up onto a high saw-horse and condemn things.

I'm very excited that someone else actually watched Micallef Tonight.
This is host Shaun Micallef on the aforementioned high horse:

He now hosts a show on SBS called Newstopia which I very much hope we get here one day (cos I'm routinely blowing my bandwidth cap already).
Newstopia explains the US electoral system:

Next year's festival could do with better production in the indie and electronic stages

From what I've heard the indie stage got something like the fourth or fifth best best PA (with the good equipment going to the "important" stages) - which the engineers then had a bit of hard time getting to sound good inside a tin shed.

I'd like to congratulate you on the awe-inspiring guitar solo at the beginning of 'Tony'.

Yes - the fine handiwork of my partner in crime, Dave Smith.

One day he hopes to be able to play it for reals.

wouldn't it be cool if they accidentally gave you a death-ray instead of a laser?

A death ray? Not on our budget (free). Besides which we'd probably want to point a death ray away from the stage.

Of course, teenagers all over will be going: "How does Mrs Peacock like, you know, just know how it feels to be me."

That's exactly what we want to think. We lull them into a false sense of security, then harvest their young and healthy organs.

That was the unexpected highlight of the show, based on audience response so far.

Will work on getting something up soon.

No - rest assured that we took out the Wellington award with an all-new gag (or song, as we call them); and one which did not involve any form of charity.

Keith, you'll be pleased to know that despite appearances on Wednesday night... Thursday nights show actually went really well. Sometimes all you need is a good night's sleep. And a few more rehearsals.

This seems like an opportune time to point out that the NZ Comedy Festival starts next week... and if duos are your thing there are a range of local examples on offer, including Mixed Nuts (who I saw last night at the San Francisco Bathhouse in Wellington, and can attest to the quality of), Funk Rabbit (who are actually Canadian, but live here now), The Mullet Brothers, and Mrs. Peacock (I may or may not be a member of that last duo).

There are also larger sketch comedy troupes performing (the Comedy Cure) as well as - controversially - a number of solo acts.

Can't we all just get along? Is this what poor old Ben Kenobi died for?

Either that or to become more powerful than you can possibly imagine...

Jesus. Do you and Baker have nerd-offs or something?

Sometimes, but Keith always smokes me in the maths section.

but do you own 30 of the Star Wars books which carry on the story!!!

Ah... no. I did play the Xbox games though if that helps.

I have to put up with Baker in person.

I have no idea who David Cormack is.

And when did PA System turn into the playground of an all-boys high school? I've never been referred to by my last name so often.

And please excuse Jarrod. He's from Coruscant.

I suppose everyone from Coruscant looks the same to you.

Next you'll be saying that all Hutts are criminals. Seriously bro, you shouldn't let a couple of bad apples taint the reputation of an entire people.

Wow, whilst his cartoon is hilarious, Baker is one giant nerd.

Yes I am giant. So giant I block out the sun. Thank you for noticing.

I’m not sure if questions of ethnicity are entirely relevant in the context of wider galactic socio-economic trends

That's exactly the sort of dismissive attitude I'd expect from a member of the dominant morphological archetype.
