Good to know that I'm not the only one concerned that this policy development process is completely f*cked up. Hey let's start with a punishment, and work backwards to find an offence to fit it...
Motorists who piss me off - I suggest that as a good starting point!!

That was Winston's shining moment of this election though, he answered (though I may have remembered the exact words incorrectly): I don't have time to answer stupid questions
That was an excellent answer, but sadly deflated by coming from WP - who of course uses that stock phrase whenever asked a question that doesn't shine a glowingly positive light on him. Any other politician giving that reply would have sounded mighty sharp.

Harumpppphhhh - a book that resorts to such blatant emotional blackmail for marketing is obviously crap. And as for that kid - too damn cute to be true, clearly Photoshopped by some graphic designer getting in practice for election posters.

Quick note on the Key ad: a poll of my flat showed that the general first thought was "but if he's in the passenger seat, who's driving?". Subtext Fail.
I think the message is that under National we'll ALL have chauffeurs....
Or maybe not....

Good old Just Desserts - I spent many a happy Sunday afternoon there!! Before setting up in Lorne St, they were in a building in lower Wakefield St that was demolished during the 1980's Chase Corporation-fueled building boom. They were the best of times, and the worst of times.....
If I remember rightly JD's was a good leftist co-operative owned and operated by those working there.....

Bob Harvey has some great stories of growing up in Point Chevalier in the post-war years, and the adventures that were available in the town dump. The father of one of his mates worked for whatever government department was responsible for dumping old military surplus gear, so they'd get a heads-up in advance of any particularly exciting dump.
One of the most memorable was a truck-load of old bayonets. The following day half the boys at school turned up armed to the teeth and looking forward to an Erroll Flynn- inspired sword fight at lunch-time..... something which the teachers and parents were considerably less thrilled about....

And what if four or five jury members spend half the trial doing Sudoku? http://www.nzherald.co.nz/section/2/story.cfm?c_id=2&objectid=10515690
