I really, really like the way the story starts off as an innocent anecdote from Dr. David's past (...who knows? He just might have been into entomolgy at some stage in his widely varied academic career) and then just surreptitiously segues into the bizarre world of The Mothman Prophecies or an episode of the X-Files - while taking a sideways dig at talkback radio.
Loved it.

I saw an article that said ball-lightning may be a myth and is just a hallucination due to the overloading of visual brain circuitry by the strong magnetic field of ordinary lightning. re: this article
So maybe you can see it but perhaps it can't be captured on a video camera...
Interesting... may be worth sacrificing a microwave as an experiment...

For "droids" read "negroes", for Mos Eisley read "Mobile Alabama in the 1950's". The droids are effectively slaves, an underclass..
Besides, what would a droid orderin a cantina? CRC? It looks like the kind of place that would have a two-drink minimum and if you ain't buyin' you ain't stayin'

I've never consumed a gold meal, let alone swam in one. I do remember from primary school "religious instruction", that Moses (or some similar biblical figure) reputedly melted down a golden calf idol and made the Israelites drink it. Doesn't sound very tasty.
The best thing about our religious instruction sessions in early 1970s rural NZ, was that Mr. Levac (don't remember the denomination - but probably not Catholic ) was an excellent cartoonist and his chalkboard illustrations of biblical scenes made me want to be one. (cartoonist that is... not a religious instructor)
Mind you I'm just as unlikely to ever have a gold medal either...

James Cameron is reputed to be putting some Na'vi N'ookie into the Avatar director's cut (it's busin'ess t'ime!... on DVD only ). I guess that spares us the 3D version in theaters with the plastic-specs thing.
"Coming right at you!" would take on a whole new meaning.P.S. I liked Avatar... but didn't love it.
