Hard News: Democracy Night, in reply to
They won. That's why they are in politics, to win. To start declaring them the underdogs after such a bloody good win is to stretch the limits of punditry to infinity and beyond. Lord knows what the next 3 years will bring, I'm picking magic ponies for everyone, myself.
So why do it? To get the left over confident and not too worried about the loss, "Yeah it was bad but if we just keep on keeping on".
If I could see it then it's probably visible from space, honestly.
And change is what Labour need to do. Williams put it very well that it's time for his generation to move on. Time for him and Trotter and the like to mosey off in to the sunset. -

Well I guess I did listen to them. Because I tend to analyse what people say, I felt that Hooten was playing up or exaggerating the problems for the National government so as help keep the base energised. That's what he does. He's an activist i.e. one who is active. I'm sure he is happy to get mentioned at PAS.
I disagree that National will be the underdog in 2014 and feel that two days after the election is too early to call the next election. I feel that stressing the negatives for the government is propaganda (information, esp. of a biased or misleading nature, used to promote or publicize a particular political cause or point of view.) at this stage. -
Did anyone else hear M.Hooten on the radio this morning "National will be the underdog in 2014".
Laugh, I nearly started. He was going overboard on how it was a bad win for them and they had better watch out.
Gotta keep catapulting the propaganda.
Goff did well enough that he doesn't need to go now. 6 months time would be the time for it, let people get their heads around what needs to be done and get the generational change sorted out. -

I thought that their " Iwi not Kiwi" billboards might have blown it, but evidently not.

I think that the Greens should get everyone's party vote. To keep the other bastards honest.

It might be interesting here in Palmy Vegas. The Nats have gone pretty hard on trying to roll Lees-Galloway but it has been so long between drinks for them that you have to wonder about how much real chance they have but they got to within 1,000 vote last time. Certainly the National candidate has been very noticeable around the town but I dunno whether that translates into votes.
I think that after 9 years of the last Labour government and the shambolic last year, in particular, people were entitled to a change but enough, eh? How much more do we have to endure to know that this is the same old slash and burn National party. Nice suit, lovely hair but why are you carrying a flame-thrower? -
Yeah, Islander, I get the feeling that this will be a ruinous government. The country has been dramatically weakened by the earthquakes, Pike River and Rena and these guys with no checks on them will go Randroid mad

But, uh, we don't know any of this since the Ombudsman has said we can't see the documents. However she will confirm that Treasury was not asked about the 10% cap. This will be because some one just made it up at Tuesday lunchtime but Key apparently "shrugged" off any concerns about it. WTF, we don't actually work for you bub. You do have to tell us stuff occasionally.
Interesting reports about the lack of Nats talking to media. A cunning plan and very sensible in this government's case -
Got a call from the PM here too, as usual he would not respond to questioning so he got hung up on.

If it was an honest attempt by Key et al we should have been kept up to date all the way through. Most people would accept that there would be some details that couldn't be made public but if this really is the pot of gold that we are being told that it is then I think we are owed the courtesy of being informed.
I hope that the real government of NZ is being consulted. Will no one think of Warner Brothers!?!?!?
