The alpine flowers and shrubs are pretty special too - makes me feel like I'm walking through the pages of a Dr Seuss book!

Thanks Jackson! The flowers over here are amazing! All pretty flashy and exotic for me!

Mmh, hummingbirds are super cute - I love how they can just hang in the air!

I live pretty close to the equator so we just rotate through rainy and dry spells - the locals are fascinated by the idea of seasons! Even though its not officially spring here I'm still excited about my newly blooming orchid! But I thought I'd share this - have no idea what it is called but it is some type of Heliconia - related to the banana and birds of paradise.

I miss NZ birds! So it has been lovely to see lots on this post! I now live in the coffee growing area of Colombia so thought I could share one of our backyard visitors - the Baranquillo who has some rather gorgeous tail feathers! We were pretty exciting to see a mountain Toucan last week as well although my partner caused such a racket in his excitement to run for the camera he frightened it off! It's also pretty magic to get hummingbirds zooming in the house and hovering above the computer before they zip off on their way to drink more nectar! Am looking forward to being back in NZ next month though and wandering in the Waitakere's with lots of Tui darting around!
