Feed: Food Show 2014: Not Bad, in reply to
I think next year I will make it a priority to come to the Auckland one too, to see if if this impression is true. Assuming there is enough wine there to make it worth my while, of course.

Is the Food Show in Auckland significantly different from the one in Wellington? I don't understand why you didn't get rollingly drunk! Where are your priorities? Where's the fun if cases of wine you don't quite remember ordering show up at your house in the following weeks?

I was really surprised to read actually here on Public Address how Charlotte Dawson had killed herself, and at the time I wondered if that was actually legal, so this post has cleared it up for me (given that it occurred overseas).

Definitely, I am allllllllll about the starch. Mashed potatos made with yoghurt (as well as butter of course) or with smoked butter are amazing with stew, I've developed a bit of a thing for brown rice (which I always cook double the amount of, so I can toss the rest into leftover Foodbag salads for lunch), and it's totally worth spending an extra dollar to get Italian pasta at the supermarket now that I can no longer buy Barilla.

I'm lucky enough to have a standalone freezer as well as the one on my fridge, and there are few things I love as much as spending a good chunk of a weekend filling up the freezer with individual servings of slow cooked stews, bolognese or empanadas. I never dine alone though, because my cats are always watching and waiting, hoping to be thrown a metaphorical or literal bone...

Hard News: Weirder yet, in reply to
Here's my one thought on the matter: I bloody LOVE the #RockEnrol name. That is all.

Gonna email all the beauty product PR companies who send me stuff to review and see what they can do about providing toiletries...

Hard News: How a thing happens, in reply to
it's amazing how many emails from PR people - and otherwise very thorough and objective journalists, for that matter - ended with the words "And on a personal note, allow me to say...")
I think too often we forget that businesses are made up of people. Like when I emailed my bank manager to thank her (as my representative of the bank) for them pulling their ads, she was like "yeah I was really relieved about that too", and I've written before about the truly excellent response I had from Vodafone in relation to some horrible blog comments coming from their IP. Just because their primary directive is to make money, doesn't mean they're run by robots.
