  • Muse: Those Racist Casting Call Blues,

No, you're not the only one. I thought I had lower than required level of internet nous. Was wondering if I should copy and paste but into what?

  • Hard News: The Wogistan form book,

All this over-the top security in Australian airports can, in my opinion, be attributed to one sinister cause: "Border Patrol". I've often seen the little noticeboard near the baggage carousels In Brisbane airport that informs lucky travellers they may be being filmed for this purpose.

The customs and immigration officials all want to be seen at their hard-ass best on the delight that is reality TV.

  • Cracker: Island Time,

This is kind of spooky, I'm reading this while sitting at Faleolo airport waiting to come home after my third work trip to Samoa this year...... I love Samoa and totally agree with your perception of it not being touristy; yes there is the odd street hawker in Apia, but so much of Samoa is just laid-back village loveliness.

I am really looking forward to bringing my partner on my next trip- it's the kind of place you want to show to very special people. Next time you visit a short stay at Manono Island is well worth it - great family run family accommodation, no cars, no dogs and the freshest fish you can imagine. Great wildlife too. You've made me homesick for Samoa and I'm not even on the plane to come home yet!

  • Busytown: The shakes,

Hi All. Here are some great fact sheets in plain English from a disaster psychologist (Dr Sarb Johal) that give great tips on how to work through the huge range of emotions and behaviours that are normal following extreme events such as the CHCH Earthquake and aftershocks. Recognises that everyone processes these things differently and some people need a bit more help to feel better.

Great for helping yourself, children, teenagers, friends, other relatives etc. Just scroll to the bottom of the homepage on the link below and you will see a list of fact sheets (only a couple of pages each) to download with great tips that explain clearly why and how people process the stress caused by disasters and ways to work towards feeling better. Separate ones for dealing with children's stress, for volunteers, for helping yourself and so on. please pass on to anyone you know who needs a bit of support. Cheers

  • Pass the crisps: UK Election watch,

Am I the only one who hasn't been able to get the Strangler's "Golden Brown" out of their head throughout the election process...

"never a frown with Gordon Brown"

it's so inappropriate for the grumpy-faced Brown but you have to admit it's catchy!l

Gordon brown finer temptress... now seems appropriate though (ick)

  • Hard News: Dropping the Ball,

As Paul C says (although admittedly more politely) if you're not a fan of gorilla racing then you're stuck with very few options.... looks like the only TV viewing in our house for the duration will be selected Channel 6 and C4 viewing (yay for Rough Science and please, please let the third series of Breaking Bad conincide wiht the RWC)

maybe less TV is not a bad thing but I love the movie selection on Maori TV and no doubt that will be taking a back seat...

Yes, they were odd interviews on RNZ this morning... hard to see how Maori TV is going to get much out of this deal, they only way it can work in thier favour is if their commentary and background i/v's etc are streets ahead of the competitors so people don't jump ship for the big games

  • Speaker: There's a word for that ...,

The proposed Aqua system was going to be close to the existing HVDC link across the Cook Strait to the Hutt Valley.

wasn't Project Aqua going to be a dam on the Lower Waitaki not anywhere near the Cook Strait cable......

Why not ping them with ACC hikes instead of bikers? SUV's are the new tobacco

would be lovely - if only my support for no blame ACC didn't override my support for astromonically taxing SUV owners....
