Proposals like this scare me deeply. Why do they think it acceptable to experiment with young people's lives in such fundamental ways.
The closing of this post is right. It is another route to privatisation of education which frankly is just wrong.

Brilliant! Thanks David

Perhaps they could add consideration of land taxes into the mix and truly revolutionise the economic footing on which our country is based.
Would be awesome as the current system doesn't appear to be working or sustainable for much longer.

I can't understand why this kind of exploitation is not illegal. How do they get around our minimum wage laws?

Cheers! Will definitely go for an amber in that direction.
I also drive in (getting off the NW MW at Nelson St) and the traffic seems to have been a lot worse the last couple of weeks. Once the cars actually get onto Nelson St, I don't think they move any slower than they used to. Is there an extra light phasing at the end of the off-ramps now to create an opening for the bikes?
The last few times I've driven, the queue on the motorway now extends beyond the point where the Southern MW queue starts...

Is there a good resource that can help cyclists figure out routes in AKL? I commute in regularly along the Northwestern Bike Path and then to Albert St but haven’t figured out if this new stretch of Light Path should feature or not.
I have no idea how to get on it, or what to do once on Nelson St.
I think (not self interestedly surely) that a major route that needs fixing is Waterview to New Lynn. That is the bit I feel least safe on and keeps me off the bike in darkness (i.e., all winter).

How do you account for Pocock vs no Pocock?

I guess under the old FPP, by-elections could result in different Parliaments.

The thing I don't really get is that the list seats are supposed to balance a party's number in Parliament so as to reflect the proportion of list votes they got - taking into account the number of electorate seats they got.
If we want Parliament to reflect the will of the voters (from all of NZ as determined in a general election), shouldn't we want National to get a new list MP now that Winny has Northland?
If things are close in the future, there could be a lot more dirt-digging in an attempt to force out Electorate MPs...

Could you grant a general license to the world at large (e.g., open source model)? That may be enforceable against your heirs.
