I'll always think of them as the world leaders in corrupting officials, but I guess that's mostly a fond childhood memory.
-
Alternatively, one could prefer the view that associate Ministers outside cabinet are like "bring your brat to work day". They get to sit in the big chair and run along the corridors, but that's about it. And playing tug of war with Daddy's paperwork will get you sent home early.
That's hardly how you would characterise Roy's role as associate minister for education.

"Heather Roy is a soldier in the territorials. She was scared of a short man with a spray-on suntan who went on Dancing with the Stars?"
Yeah, it's not actually usually considered appropriate to shoot workplace bullies in the face.
Yes, much as it was nicely phrased it was also a very stupid comment.

I think there might be a reason why National needs Act that doesn't always get acknowledged: it's good for a party that claims the centre to have at least one party on its wing. Key has always distanced himself very theatrically from Douglas, whilst being happy enough to take his vote. But if Act disappears, then the image of Act that he's so keen to not have stick to National will in fact stick to National.

it was too unreliable, and you can't tolerate that when you have to get to work.
Man, are you guys so not Italian :-)

Can you see that incorporating a modal change into a public transport solution is going to add friction ?
I couldn't see how the criss-crossing rail links in Milan were going to work, but I was impressed at how seamless it all was when I visited last year. The trains really were an extension of the car, bus, cycle and walking routes. (Although we were used to modal changes by having an underground rail, I suppose.)

I've been back in Welly for the last 8 years, and taking the bus does seem genuinely classless there.
Deliciously ambiguous.
-
Perhaps I haven't lived in Welly long enough, but I've spent 6 of the last 10 years here and that's the first I ever heard that phrase.
I have lived here for 13, and ditto. Perhaps they just don't say it to my face.

I don't think you can embed pictures, only YouTube videos. So you must upload the image to the Web first, via Flickr or Picasa or some such - I use Twitpic because it's the only image service that I have an account with. Then you link in the same way you link any other URL.

Gherkins would be fine by me but children have enough trouble with the spinach skin and the artichoke spikes, it doesn't necessarily pay to push one's luck.
