Hard News: Irony Deficient, in reply to
we have some of the funniest stand ups around
The good thing about stand up is that it's intrinsically ephemeral and contained. You can be thoroughly offensive (Fritzl jokes, Jimmy Savile jokes, etc) and it will largely stay in the room. It doesn't get circulated around the internet for a vortex of condemnation to build.

Referring to Brownlee's past isn't to disparage real woodwork (technology, nowadays, I guess) teachers who teach in an inspired and understanding fashion.
It's a reference to a caricature of the teaching role, based on a reality that I remember from my childhood, but has (one hopes) become much rarer in the modern era of well trained and committed teachers. It would be the same if a former traffic warden became a politician. or a former banker, such as the PM.

a less-conflicted independent prosecution service handled that function
I don't know why we don't have that? Has it ever been considered?

A lot of people don't find satire funny.
Come to that, a lot of people don't find funny funny. They see a programme like 'The Office' with those nasty, nasty characters and assume it's advocacy for that worldview.
I think this comes from the US, where they have the concept of comedy being a group of usually attractive people behaving in an anodyne way with a hysterical laugh track.

Because the Americans are subject to no form of oversight or restraint as to how they use or release this information.
I'd expect that any such release would happen only after the video had been viewed and discussed by responsible management.
Apart from anything else, streaming data in realtime serves no purpose beyond demonstrating the size of the various cops and spies genitalia.

Was this activity - sending a video of the raid to the US in realtime legal?
Privacy Act? Reasonable use of public funds? Police code of conduct re. releasing information?

Because it's a fundamental principle that renewing dual nationality should disqualify an MP?
I would have thought the opposite was true - we shouldn't discriminate against people according to nationality.

In a democracy, shouldn't the people who voted for the governing party be responsible? ;-) #votecrime

I saw your twitter discussion over the weekend, and what occurred to me was how on earth any meaningful sanction could be applied if a crown body was found criminally liable?
The normal sanction for a company found criminally liable is a fine. But all fine income belongs to the crown, so essentially it would be a rather symbolic transfer of money (the body would presumably claim it needs its budget to keep providing whatever it does, and indeed to prevent the transgression recurring).
Reparations, maybe?
