I don't know if this adds anything...but I discovered last night that in the lastest version of iTunes you can set which iTunes store you want to log into. This means I can use my UK iTunes login and buy songs in New Zealand. Gotta watch that exchange rate though.

How about The Kid in Came a Hot Friday?
Good point. I was just thinking TV and completely forgot about film.
I missed the Margret Mahy series recently but I did catch some. It seemed to be quite nicely put together. White folk, brown folk sometimes speaking Maori (mostly speaking English), all together on some sort of quest* to save their nation.
Was it any good?
*just remembered it was called Maddigan's Quest

Wednesday, TV3, 7.30pm = The Simpsons. An animated comedy show that's been running for nearly 20 years and has been renewed for its 19th season. Still funny.
Wednesday, TV3, 8.00pm = Bro'Town. An animated comedy show that's been running for nearly 3 years and is in its 3rd season. Funny once.
It's pretty harsh to compare Bro'Town with The Simpsons but when they're stuck together on the same night like that, it's hard not to.
Two things annoy me about Bro’Town. One is that the animation is terrible. Surely we’re more talented than that?
The other is that most of the lines seem shoved together and poorly paced. I remember reading somewhere that the Naked Samoans were having troubles writing for the screen after having done so much for the stage. This may account for it, but shouldn’t it have changed by season three?
Finally, (yes I know I said “two things”) all those celebrities. Adding cameos by local celebs doesn’t add humour, and humour is why I watch comedy. (Actually, on a side note, why do all the celebs on Bro’Town play themselves?)
So I got this off my chest, anyone with me? Anyone against me?

Watching it now, it's not even 5mins in and they've already connected Charlotte Dawson and dog sh*t

To be honest for me the best one was the first one against South Africa at Carisbrook.
No one (spectators) knew what was going on. When they went down on one knee everyone in the pub (Hope Bros. Wellington) went ballistic cause we knew we were in for a treat. Also Tana slapped Rico Gear (or was it McAllister?) on the back which I thought was damn cool.
Having said all of that I LOVE Kapa O Pango and when we were in France I played it to these guys in a bar. The laptop we used was playing the music for the place and so over the top of it came the sound of the All Blacks. Awesome.

Um, have we seen where the Allianz Arena is?
Have a look
It's pretty much near nothing (though this looks like it wasn't quite finished when the photo was taken). The nearest thing to it seems to be a sewage treatment plant. On the north side: farmland. And it's sitting right beside a motorway and big one too.
Sorry Tom, still looking for that engineers story

Yeah, I think that's what we've got to get past. Biculturalism in TV doesn't just mean "brown characters" or a good mix of brown and white. It means having characters who freely and easily particpate in the customs* of other cultures. There's bound to be an example, but I can't think of one.
*I want a better word but can't think of one, jeez 3.30 Friday arvo and my brain takes off for drinks early

Tom: It was about a week after the first story but I have a feeling it was one of those Dom Post stories that didn't make it to Stuff. Having said that I didn't look for it too hard.
Greg: Free public transport for ticket holders is also a good one. Especially if you market it as a way that you can drink at the game without worrying about driving.

Thanks, I like it too! Damn, should've put a copyright on it.
The Cake Tin is a unique one. Also you'll find that the crowds, much like the ones in Eden Park are streaming out of the ground and to their cars.
Of those who leave via the Fran Wilde walk (the big concrete walkway) only about a third go to the trains the rest disipate into the city to wherever they parked their cars.
Wellington could do better if the trains were upgraded. And traffic on game day is terrible on the northern side of the stadium. Oh and it could do with one or two more access points to the city.
And, yeah I don't support a waterfront stadium. Especially not an Auckland one. Ooh, what about one at the foot of the Bombays?
